sg
for torrents, use Transmission. for rar and every other kind of file you want to decompress, use The Unarchiver. both are free and very good apps.
dragossh
Transmission is a pretty good torrent client. For unarchiving, you can use The Unarchiver or StuffIt Expander. If you want to make a .rar archive, I think you can use RAR for OS X, but it's command line only.
cabron
my recommendations are: transmission for torrents unrarx for expand based rar compressed files.
DJChee
Transmission for torrents definitely, light-weight and very simple to use. As for a .RAR Unarchiver, I prefer using StuffIt Expander. Hope that helps
MiJKa
I've tried Stuffit and UnrarX, I found The Unarchiver from this thread and dearly love it.
Affinity
Transmission for torrents. Unarchiver for .rar and many others.
Berzerker
StuffIt Expander is bloated and full of advertising, whether it be e-mails from Smith Micro, or something else. Use The Unarchiver. It can even expand sit/sitx files and everything else, including zips, rars, and bz2, gzip, etc.
