dantastic
Hi all, I'm looking for a Linux feature, nested login. As in log on to the same machine again in a window of the current user. This feature is standard in Linux and I believe that one should be able to do it on OSX as well. I have tried screen sharing but I get an error message saying I can't log on to the computer I'm already on. but that is essentially what I'm after. jackoverfull
you can't do this by default. i remember to have used vnc to do a similar thing…
iPirate
just wondering... why?
lord_muad_dib
just use spaces and tabbed terminal.. what's the point of nesting 2 sessions of the SAME account? even in linux if you use some apps that don't like this nasty nesting you'll get bad results, even multiple X sessions do not work well
jackoverfull
you're right: you can't (graphically) login multiple times with the same account, i only did that thing with vnc using two different accounts.
lord_muad_dib
you can, howevwr, enable fast user switch in accounts preferences, so you can graphically login with different accounts you can even login in console mode only, if you want... just type without quotes: ">console" and no password at login window
jackoverfull
sure. i often do that. but some times it's useful to have a nested login... i'm not sure that >console is still working on leopard…
