Hello,

Two days of efforts...

I followed the wiki for sound but my card is listed there: Ubuntu says it's a 82801 CA/CAM AC97 Audio COntroller with vendor id 0x8086 and product id 0x2485, and in the AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext, if I look a the Info.plist file I have an entry in the "ICH3 AC97 Audio" section:

<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>

<string>0x24858086</string>

that matches my card.

The sound does not load at startup.

I can manually load the AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext with no error. But there is still no sound...

What did I wrong?

Thanks.

Gl.

Well,

Deadmoo's VMware image, cleaned and patched (Maxxuss 0.41, but I had no sound prior to the patches). Then I used the Ubuntu live CD method to transfer to the Satellite Pro.

It's really working well, stable and al but the sound...

Any ideas out there?

SUCCESS !!

I edited the Info.plist file and removed all sections but the one containing my card pci ID. As I found on other forums that working AC97 were in the section 4 or more (4, 5 or 99) I changed the 3 to 4 and shutdown the machine. After reboot, I had modules loading automatically at startup and SOUND !!!

I don't have the machine with me now, I will post my Info.plist soon. I looks like the OS got confused by all the cards definition and by keeping just one, it found its way at last.

So I belong to the wrong section now :-D

My AC97 worked on install, but then I installed Maxxus-SSE3to2 v0.2 then it became garbled.

Since I installed Maxxus-SSE3to2 v0.4 the AC97 sound works great.

Also, for a speed issue, which can slow up the sound, delete the TDM module that uses up 95% of your system resources. Your system will fly!

Here is my truncated Info.plist - it's notably shorter and keeps only one section with one entry for the sound card:

awesome, finally got the audio working again. i had it working twice before, but had no real idea of how i did it. Then i stuffed the install afew times setting up dual booting and started all over again. I changed the plist and set devices to manual configure in the bios. Ive got a tecra 9100, same audio chip as yours. 2485.

again awesome!

Do you think turning off 'PNP Operating System Intstalled?' in the bios would help things?

*tries it*

It worked!!! I don't think it's labeled the same in my Toshiba Portege M200 bios, but I just changed a setting from "Let Operating System Decide" to "Enable All Hardware" and now my sound works like a charm

Well it didn't work for me :)

Quite strange. Its basic Intel 82801BA/BAM audio, and it just wont work!
