~pcwiz
Most users probably already know about this, but Microsoft is offering a free version of Visual Studio 2008 called Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition. The full package consists of Visual Web Developer, Visual C#, Visual C++, Visual Basic, and SQL Server 2005 Express. If you just want one individual component, you can download a web installer that downloads the necessary files and installs for you. Or you can download a full 894MB DVD ISO that contains everything plus optional components. Everything can be found on this page. And also, if you are eligible (university or college student) for Microsoft DreamSpark, you can get Visual Studio 2008 and 2005 both full editions plus a lot of other software including Windows Server free. EDIT: Also, no registration required. And along with that package, on the same page there are other SDKs and software packages for free.

~pcwiz
Lol I downloaded the ISO and installed everything, amounts up to about 4GB total size when installed. But the programs are excellent I have to say The Visual Web Developer program offers features found in commercial programs like Dreamweaver. Visual Web Developer supports virtually every format (PHP, ASP, Java, HTML, etc.) out there.
