dantastic
Thanks for taking time reading this. I have installed netkas kernel 9.2 with speedstep and fixed shutdown. Also iGurus AppleSMBios. The computer boot fine but the shutdown do not work. Hangs on black screen. Speedstep is not working, sysctl -a | grep freq give me the same values if the power is plugged in or not. I have read I may need some application, where can I find one compatible with 10.5.2? According to uname I am running netkas kernel so I should be sorted... or? Thanks heaps for any help. dantastic
Ok, got speedstep working. instructions found at http://minsong79.tistory.com/10#recentTrackback Still shutdown issue though. using -v I can see that it shuts down cleanly but it just does not turn the machine off.. Gujal
There are issues with NVinject and shutdown. Are you using NVinject or EFI Gfx String for NVidia card? Sadly no fix yet Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/92787-how-do-i-do-speedstep/#findComment-662117 Share on other sites
iwantsound44
what is the EFI Gfx String exactly and how can i install this instead of the installer that makes shutdown and restart not work Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/92787-how-do-i-do-speedstep/#findComment-662125 Share on other sites
dantastic
Yea, I'm using NVInject. I'm still very new to all this so I haven't researched EFI Gfx strings enough to give it a go. Quite pleased with myself so far though You recon I would get shutdown going using a gfx string instead of NVInject? Last hurdle to get over, sleep and shutdown. I've everything else working. yay. iwantsound44 >> head over to netkas.org and to the forums there. They are discussing gfx strings and you have quite few samples with different hardware and such. muitommy
kernel should be the one responsible for shutdown, i use nvinject, and that don't break my shutdown. dantastic
muitommy >> what kernel are you using? And also, what version of NVInject are you using? I've the 8600gt card though. muitommy
0.2.0 and 0.2.1 both work for me, and kernel really doesn't matter for me, all work fine on shutdown, but if you experience shutdown problems, you may try the netkas's universal kernel w/ shutdown fix in irc. dantastic
I'm running netkas speedstep w/ shutdown fix (9.2). 0.2.1 NVInject. Suppose I will have to hold on for a while til a new kernel surfaces.
