Aescleal
I am interested in this also, since I have a P4C800-E. The system specs are: Mainboard: P4C800-E Memory: 2x512mb DDR Processor: P4 - 3.0C Video: eVGA 6 Series card - AGP HDD: 2x34gb Maxtor Raptors The processor is SSE2 Will it be possible to run Leopard on this hardware? EDIT: I read the Wiki for 10.5.0 and it would seem all my hardware should work. I'll test this weekend and reply with my results. grifter
What's the BIOS version of your motherboard? I have a P4C-800 Deluxe board and I had problems installing Kalyway 10.5.1, mainly because of ACPI. I upgraded my BIOS to 1025.001 Beta and install proceeded smoothly. Try upgrading your motherboard's BIOS to the latest version and see if that resolves your problem. Also, start with the latest release version. Only try the latest beta version if the latest release version doesn't work. Make sure you have a backup copy of your current bios version though. ProPeace
Hi ! Grifter... The last BIOS version I put in my motherboard is 1023. The ASUS website gives a 1024 one, but no 1025... Where did you take yours ? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/92012-osx-on-intelp4asusp4c800-edlx/#findComment-662636 Share on other sites
grifter
I got it from the Asus site. The thing is though, my board is a P4C800 Deluxe and yours is a P4C800-E Deluxe. They have different BIOS versions. You can find beta BIOS files under the "Latest" section of the download page for your motherboard. Try upgrading your BIOS to 1024 and see if that does the trick. Also check to see if ACPI 2.0 is enabled in your motherboard's BIOS settings. You can also try playing around with different BIOS settings. ProPeace
Nobody can help me...? Yesterday, I tried to install a Linux Debian, and had problems during installation. I had test IDE connectors (there is 3 on P4C800-E deluxe, and 4 Sata) and BIOS settings, and had Linux successfully installed. So, I tried again to install OSX with the same BIOS settings (Intel Compatible ATA), and same IDE connector (Intel chipset). But, no way, it don't want to be installed... So, I would like to test another OSX than the Kalyway, just to see if it does the same. For a Pentium 4 on an Intel 875 chipset, what do you advise me to test ? Darrious
I'd advise iATKOSr2. That might work. Also, be sure to select MBR and format your disk that way also. This might do the trick. Leopard has special problems on Pentium 4's. If you really don't mind then I'd suggest getting Tiger 10.4.11, but I want Leopard, and I really want to find a fix for it. Also, download something called Leo4All 10.5.2. It supposedly works with Pentium 4 processors. ProPeace
Thx Darrious...! I've tried the iATKOS v1.0ir2, and it works better ! Better, but I have a problem : After copying files during installation, after 60 or 70% (?), it gives me a yellow triangle with this error : The installer could not create the folder /Volumes/MACOSX/Library/Receipts/db But I've tried only one time. :angry2: I'm going to test it more tomorrow... I tried the "search" function of the forum, but it bugs... It answers me : The error returned was: Erreur Sphinx : expected searchd protocol version 1+, got version '0' Merci de contacter un Administrateur ! Bimmer
Wow, i'm shocked at the problems you are having, Give Leo4All a try, worked great for me. Kalyway also worked very well. ProPeace
Thx, so, I must success ! What's new ? It's getting better and better... I've tried with another DVD reader, and I understood that the error occured during the DVD test. So, with the new DVD reader, it installed all, without errors. It asked me to restart at the end, so I did, and I removed the DVD. I wait, and... AAARGH ! Blinking cursor... I will traumatize Bimmer...! lOol Now, I'm going to read what's about this problem, I have ever saw discussed here. [EDIT] Erf... I found the blinking cursor topic, but there is no answer. And search function of the forum is not working... Snirf... [/EDIT] [EDIT2] I found another blinking cursor topic... I'm going to test it. [/EDIT2] [EDIT3] I'm not far, I'm smelling it... I tried this : 1. Boot with the DVD 2. Press F8, then type "-s" (this will start some kind of a rescue shell) 3. type "cd /usr/standalone/i386" 4. type "dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1" (where X is the disk number and Y is the partition number on which you installed Leo, in your case it should read /dev/rdisk0s1) 5. type "dd if=boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1 (where X is again the disknumber, in your case: /dev/disk0) 6. type "reboot" and take out the DVD, your system should now be able to boot from the hard disk. After that, no more blinking cursor, and Darwin is starting... But, after 2 secondes and some command lines, it reboots... Look : So, I did the next step : For all of those who use the method posted above without any success, do the following:Boot to DVD. Open Terminal from utilities menu type "cp /mach_kernel /Volumes/Your_MAC_partition_name" After copying the file, use the method listed above once more, and it should work out for you. For some reason, not sure if it's just my box or the dvd copy i have, mach_kernel did not copy to the HDD. Without luck, same reboot in loop. I continue my research... RyanMerritt
I belaive this problem is because you need to format your hard drive this is how I Did mine. 1. On your CD Go up to Utillitys 2. open up your Disk Utillity 3. Click on your Harddrive (or target drive/partition) in the left window 4. Then look right and click on the Partition Tab 5. Then choose Volume Scheme: 1 Partition (change if you know what your doing) 6. Then fill in the Name with: Macintosh HD 7. Leave default format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) 8. Click Options: GUID Partition Table, click OK or "use MBR Partition Table" 9. Click Apply Thx Darrious...! ProPeace
I did all of that... Partition, format, use MBR... There is just "Macintosh HD" for the name, which is not the one I have chosen (my choice : MACOSX). Is the name important ? I've read that it must not have spaces, in the name, to prevent problems... No ? Will test more today. I have to test the Kalyway again, in the 2nd DVD reader (don't remember if I have ever done that), and I can test different options in packages choice (choose more than one for graphics, did I made an error ?). ProPeace
I've tested the Kalyway DVD again, with the verified working DVD reader, and I have the same issue... It reboots after a long time loading. For the iATKOS DVD, I've successfully installed OSX, but after the first reboot, it always stops, with a reboot or an error message, depending of the customization I choose during installation. The far I've succeeded was a moving circle when graphic interface boot, but with indefinite time, or with an error message asking me to reboot, but after that it does the same... Then... I've tried a 3rd distrib, the Leo4Allv2_Universal_10.5.2_AMD_INTEL[sSE2_SSE3] DVD, but it reboots at the beginning of the installation, like you can see : Tried in both Compatible/Enhanced mode for drives, tried ECPI on & off, and Firewire off... I don't understand why it don't want to work, and I don't know what I can do more to make it work... Any idea...?!?
