Cubric
Im running an MBP 2.2ghz. My DVD driver couldn't read any DVD be it data or blanks. It just spits it out. But weirdly enough, it could read CD-Rs. This unfortunately happened after the 10.5.2 update. I have tried resetting the PRAM more than once, and I just finished verifying and repairing the permission, but to no avail. I also did what was advised to me on the previous update that was to download the update directly from the site. Still not working. So, is there any other way? Ampidire
It happened after the update? weird... nothing in the update should have changed that. Have you tried an Archive and Install from the Leopard DVD by holding 'C' while booting to have it boot from the superdrive? Cubric
It doesnt work. It just spits the DVD out again. This is getting frustrating. I did some research and some users have the same problem with their DVDs spitting out. Cubric
Would trying to fix the problem with a DVD cleaner disk be useful? Is was suggested to me from another problem. but one of them said that the DVD cleaner might get stuck due to the MBP being slotted. what you guys think? 2twisty
I just had my 13" Macbook (Late 2006) repaired due to a bad superdrive. HOwever, I was having the exact opposite problem as you: I could read DVDs but not CDs. Mine happened after the 10.5.2 update as well, but I suspect the drive was toast before then, but I don't use the drive in the MacBook that often, so it just SEEMED like it was caused by the upgrade. Is your Mac still covered under warranty or Applecare? If so, give 'em a call. They'll likely want to replace the drive.
