halo2rox
I've tried everything I can think of. I have a Sony Vaio with a Pentium 4 sse2 cpu. It worked fine with all of the tiger releases. No problems. I recently downloaded a Kalaway install dvd to install leopard. That dvd wouldn't even boot. It would get to the loading darwin message and restart the computer. Someone then told me to try to download iATKOS and use that. It actually booted fine and installed without a problem until I rebooted. It boots up until the apple logo and the screen goes grey and tells me I need to restart my computer. What could this be? Am I selecting the wrong patches? Can someone tell me which patches I might need? Thanks a lot for your help, Andrew Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/89708-you-need-to-restart-your-computer/ Share on other sites

halo2rox
Rufus, I already tried no video .pkg's and no luck with that. DoiX and laptop, I can't do that because it won't even boot without the disk in the drive. Without the disk, it just says missing operating system. EDIT: Ok, I got the booting without the cd right, i think. But now when I select osx in the xp boot menu, it stays on a blank screen for awhile and gives a chain booting error. halo2rox
I did a little more homework and I think it might have something to do with my dvd drive going idle and causing the install to hang. I did not get a install sucessful prompt when I installed and I'm reading about people having problems with that. So, I'm going to try installing again and watch the install a little more closely. I'll update you guys when and if I find anything.Ok, I give up. If anyone can help me, that'd be great. I'm stuck with a chain booting error without the dvd and a please restart your computer with the dvd. Tezza
I had the same problem on a Kalyway Leo 10.5.1 Intel SSE2 SSE3 disk. Reboot and when the countdown begins use command -x. This should get you in safe mode, worked for me good luck. halo2rox
Thanks you guys! I'll try all that and get back to you tomorrow. Chances are I'll just fall back to tiger. I'm not getting enough of the easiness I want out of leopard plus I already have a macbook. Thanks anyway.
