ASUS P5E

I'm wondering if anyone has tried the ASUS P5E board?

I've got a setup that I've been slowly piecing together and I'm hoping it will work okay.

Originally I was going to put Vista on it. But now I'm thinking of puting Leopard on instead.

(I still haven't purchased the RAM; I'm building as money becomes available)

The big ticket item on the board is PCIe2.0 x16

The processor is an Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz w/ 6MB Cache

The video card on it is an eVGA 8800GT (nVidia) which supports the PCIe2.0

And it will have 8GB of OCZ 6400 (Vista Performance Platinum) -- still haven't bought this yet.

Thanks for taking a look for me. I appreciate any feedback I can get. (crossing my fingers I can run Leopard on it stable)

specs on the board are:

Processor Support LGA775 socket for Intel® Core™2 Extreme / Core™2 Quad / Core™2 Duo / Pentium® Extreme / Pentium® D / Pentium® 4 Processors

Compatible with Intel® 05B/05A/06 processors

Supports Intel® next generation 45nm Multi-Core CPU

I have Asus P5E(Bio601), Intel E8400, 8800GT and Netgear 311T work 100% audio and LAN work with Halway 10.5.1 and 10.5.2 update. The only problem I have is, when it bootup very slow. But It working 100%, FC2 suit’s working too. I spend about two week, due to the problem video card. When you install Halway or Aitkos do not click install video drive option.

Also you need a USB thumb drive to update new bio to 601, Bio came with Asus P5e doesn’t work with new Intel E8400.

Good Luck

Oh that is fantastic news. I can't wait to set it up!

(on a side note)

Do you find that 10.5 is stable? I tend to almost never restart or shutdown my computers. On a Windows PC, I notice that XP/Vista will tend to break down after a few weeks and need to be restarted. Does OSX(86) suffer from this also?

Regardless of your answer, I'm excited to try this out. But I'd love your feedback.

Thanks,

Aescleal

Withdrawing the money for this board at the moment. I should be ordering it Tuesday, depending on when the transaction completes.

I changed the video card from the 8800GT to an ATI 3870. I can get Kalyway up and running wonderful, but have troubles updating things. I'm still experimenting!

All in all though, I love this board!

When i try "Step 4 - Refresh the caches" using "sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache", i get an error saying file not found ??

I've manually searched for the file but to no avail.

Has anyone got this working on a Asus P5E board ?

thx
