~pcwiz
Hi, I've made a 5 page documentation for the Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD that explains all the preinstallation, installation, and post installation process. I don't have the DVD myself but I have an accurate enough representation to make the documentation. Main source was the Kalyway release thread but I did add a lot of bits of my own It explains clearly for any n00bs that plan on using it The 44kb PDF is attached and I hope you find it useful. Please take a look and tell me what you think, before I zip it up and release it to the whole wide public Changelog: KalywayDOCSV3 (new file attached) Added a big note at the top in bold that the Kalyway DVD takes a long time to boot KalywayDOCSV2 (new file attached) Added a couple lines on how to Repair Permissions KalywayDOCS.pdf KalywayDOCSV2.pdf KalywayDOCSV3.pdf Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/89300-documentation-for-kalyway-1051-dvd/ Share on other sites

Headrush69
You should mention that when booting the DVD on some hardware, it can take a substantial amount of time before the Installer screen appears. I'm sure many of noobies have forced restart thinking the white background with the busy animation was a locked machine. shadow257
Overall this is an excellent guide. Some helpful hits, I would try to explain the difference between using the vanilla kernel or not and what EMI is. Since I had never herd of these terms before I had to do quite some research to find out what they ment. Other than that, thanks! ~pcwiz
shadow257, I put that info in the Newbies FAQ to OSx86 I wrote (stickied in the Tutorials Genius Bar forum). Since this is documentation directly centered on the Kalyway DVD, and since EFI is more of a general topic, I don't think its neccessary but many thanks for offering a suggestion Noom, You're welcome! elmace
Great guide V2, I should have read this friday, because I have a problem that you mentioned in your guide about kalyway having problems installing from an IDE dvd drive, that way I should not have wasted my whole weekend trying to install it. By the way have you heard of any way to fix that? Will an external dvd drive work? _RoS_128
Thank you very much for the doc! It's very informative and answered a lot of lingering questions I had after my failed iATKOS attempts. I'll try this out when I get back to my computer at school (I'm on spring break). MDW2
Hi! Thank you for the documentation of Kalyway. It is really great tutorial! I have motherboard with JMicron. Can I install Kalyway from DVD SATA to disk non-SATA? My hardware: Intel Core 2 DUo ASUS motherboard with JMicron GeForce 8800 2GB RAM HDD SATA 500GB (for Windows) HDD ATA 160GB (for MacOSX Kalyway) DVD-RW SATA I've already installed Kalyway to disk ATA but I can't boot it. In a few tutorials I've read that I should turn off JMicron Controler. However if I disable JMicron Controler, I don't see ATA devices (so disk with MacOSX). Could you tell me if I can use Kalyway on ATA disk on my motherboard (ASUS with JMicron)? Should I buy second SATA disk? Would it be solution for my poroblem? Help me, please... Best regards, MDW Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/89300-documentation-for-kalyway-1051-dvd/#findComment-676145 Share on other sites
