For $100 my guess is you had 2GB before and added an extra 4GB.

Which apps seems a lot snappier to load? Sure it's not a placebo effect?

Of course more memory is better especially for things like virtualization, video/audio editing, etc but I wouldn't think application loading time would dramatically faster than when you had 2GB. (Unless you are loading some huge files.)

I don't notice it.

Sorry to bust your bobble, but Mac also only uses 3GB, eventhough it can see 6GB.

Check Activity Monitor to see the correct "usable" Ram installed.

Its the same with my Macbook Pro C2D 2.16ghz. It can see 4GB, but uses only 3GB as does windows, so its a hardware limit.

No it's not!!!.....my Bubble is still fine!

But your on a Core 1 platform ? Maybe its only some Desktop/Laptop board that are hindered by the 3GB limit (first generation Core 2 Duo "Merom"). It is not until Santa Rosa that 4GB was fully detected AND fully usable by the system.

So to me the syndrome sounded exactly the same as me :)

Enjoy your ram speeds! Parallels is hog.

Both machines are C2D 2.13ghz and C2D 1.83ghz

Intel 945p based motherboards have the limitation. 2.16GHz MacBook Pros were based on that (the newer ones are Santa Rosa which are based on 965). The OP is using a 965, which doesn't have the limitation.

Man, am i glad I'm surrounded by CLEVER people!! ;):(:(:)

Also glad, both my machines are 965 based!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

and, the sun is shining today!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
