hork
This is all I know about it so far: Mac Mini A1103 1.4GHz PPC G4 512MB RAM 80GB HDD I'll be getting it on Thursday. Just a few questions: In what ways can I upgrade this badboy? I'd like to get it up to 1GB of RAM atleast. What emulators should it be able to run? How will it run Leopard? How will it run the following games: *Peggle *Diablo II: LoD *Warcraft III + The Frozen Throne *World of Warcraft Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88565-wooh-got-a-g4-mac-mini-for-70/ Share on other sites

(MoC)
Nice. That's a good computer for a very good price. Good luck! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88565-wooh-got-a-g4-mac-mini-for-70/#findComment-631846 Share on other sites
Synaesthesia
Sweet. That's really awesome. Great price! Even better, that's the model with a superdrive, so you can burn DVD's! (As far as I know) Well, to answer your questions: You can upgrade to 1 Gig RAM maximum, which is really recommended. They have a single memory slot, which can use normal DDR 184-pin RAM, either DDR-333, or DDR-400. eg. Any of these will work The only emulator you can run is Virtual PC by Microsoft, which emulates Windows, but quite slowly. It came with MS Office 2004 for Mac. You can't run Parallels, VMWare fusion, or Bootcamp, those all only work for Intel Macs. It will run Leopard no problem (minimum requirement is 867mhz G4 + 512mb RAM. It will Peggle, Diablo II, and Warcraft III really easily (As far as I know). World of warcraft will run on low settings. hork
Alright, thanks! By emulators I was referring to NES/SNES/Gameboy/etc. I'm glad to know that this Mac is capable of doing a lot of things I want. Just one more question though: Is it possible to get a bigger HDD? Synaesthesia
Oh, you want snes9x. (emulates SNES) There are gameboy and N64 emulators too, I think. Yes, you can get a bigger HDD. You need a 2.5" Pata HDD. But maybe it's better to get an external USB or Firewire Drive. An external 3.5" drive connected via Firewire will actually be faster than your internal drive! Check out drives shaped like the mac mini, such as the Newertech ministack. hork
Sweet! If for some reason this can't burn DVDs, is there anyway to install it myself? hot hatch
Sweet! If for some reason this can't burn DVDs, is there anyway to install it myself? external dvd burners are cheap and swapping parts in a mac mini is a pain in the ass Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88565-wooh-got-a-g4-mac-mini-for-70/#findComment-635073 Share on other sites
