dsc106
I just installed on an MBR partition Zeph's DVD. I installed the normal kernel, not a ToH one (should I have installed a ToH one? What's the difference?). Anyway, for EFI, I checked the box for EFI v8 for MBR. Is that all taken care of then? When 10.5.3 releases, should I be able to update with no problems? With EFI, would i now be able to grab a real Leopard disc and install?

fryke
From what the 10.5.2 update showed for 10.5.1 users on EFI-enabled Hackintoshes very close to real Macs: Nope. About installing using an original DVD: No. The EFI you've installed is the boot manager effectively for the installed system on your harddrive only. Starting from the DVD would require such a boot manager to be installed on the DVD, and Apple doesn't do that for you.
dsc106
I see, so what is the point of EFI right now? ANd, in the future, is the hope to see it allow for upgrades like on a normal Mac? Is it "useless" until then?
