Sorry, but do you have internet with 10.5.2?? Cause since i have updated with 10.5.2 and 9.2.0 toh kernel i don't have my Intel Pro/100 :D

I have 945GNT too. Any ideas????

You need the IONetworkingFamily.kext from the kalyway 10.5.1 install. You did back up ALL of your old kexts .... didn't you ? :)

My networking is working just fine.

I did not need to do anything to get ethernet working.

I have done the audio upgrade and it works

I have not done the video upgrade yet. Am getting some block artifacts.

I want to try Time Machine just in case I screw something up.

I will do this for video upgrade

1. run terminal

2. sudo -s

3. enter password

4. cd /System/Library/Extensions

5. rm -rf AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

6. cp -R /path/to/brazilmac/patch/AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

7. chown -R root:wheel AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

8. chmod -R 755 AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

9. rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

10. repair permissions with disk utility

11. reboot with -f just to make sure

but am confused about the path /path/to/brazilmac/patch/

Another really dumb question - how do you back up old kexts?

Oooops - power management is also an issue.

Does not wake up after going to sleep

There is an easier way. Use kext helper. It came with Kalyway -it is in applications. Just drop the new kext on top of the unopend kext helper app. It will ask for a password. After the password it will install the new kext with the correct permissions and (I believe) will back up the old kext for you in a folder called "backup".

To back up your old kexts you could just drag you entire extensions folder (with the option key pressed at the same time) to a folder you created on your hd called "backup". (when dragging and dropping - the option key copies files/folders rather than moves them)

A cooler way to do it is here:http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=89260&hl=

Unfortunatly - artifacts on gma 950 are probably here to stay. At least for now.

Thank you tle88 for the step by step guide you have posted here. I was able to walk right through this and my box is up and running. :P

I do have a couple of questions if you dont mind.

I also have a Intel D945GNTLKR + P4 945 Dual Core, 2 gigs of ram

I installed 10.5.1 on a second drive, but it seems to be a bit slow compared to 10.4.10 and a bit jerky.

Was wondering if you have had the same issue. Could this be a video issue ?

Also after reading some of the other posts it appears some with the same processer

has used the "vanilla" kernel. But other say it wont work

Is this one of those "try it and see"

Again thanks tle88

Video... I do not think so. I understand. Finder seems to be slow.

Answer is no. Leopard actually IS faster than Tiger. Really. In video too.

Level of optimization is better.

You have something broken in Your system. My first Leopard installation

seems slow too... I thought, that Leopard was slow. - Fortunately I was wrong.

My first touching with Leopard was ToH 10.5.0 - It was a little bit broken too

(my system is finnish, I have not "words" in english system) from "spotlight directory".

(database?)

Launch Service

Directory Service

With " Onyx " software You can try rebuilt that directory-database. It takestimes.

Do not touch the machine, when it do that rebuilding. Left machine do it in night.

If that not works, You must do installation again.

>Also after reading some of the other posts it appears some with the same processor

No. Pentium D has only SSE3 order. (2x S) Core processors have SSSE3 order. (3x S)

Netkas kernel has emulation of this new model SSSE3 order group.

Vanilla kernel works only in new core pentium.

Our motherboard has older voltage regulator manager 10.1 and new core needs 11.0

= We can not put new core processor in our older motherboard. Period.

===

I am glad to hear, that Your system works well now.

Mragonias... do this AppleIntel8255x help to You ?

I find a IOnetworkingfamily.kext in other thread that runs perfectly. Thanks!

Now , only problem is GMA950, for example my Dock don't maximize the icons....but really is not a problem :(

For gma950:

Back up your extensons folder. Make sure you do all updates. Including the leopard graphics update. You need to replace the new AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext with version 1.4.20. If you backed up your extension folder it will be in there. If not, it is on the Kalyway dvd. Use the application pacifist to extract that kext. Some say that adding the Natit.kext helps. I havn't noticed any improvement with it. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=89257&hl=

Woo hoo - one step closer!

I installed the Video Update 1.0 and rebooted and the resolution was at 1024x768

I followed previous instructions and backed up old kect.

I then opened Kext Helper b7 and dragged the old kext into the app and ran the install.

Then I deleted Extensions.mkext

I ran disk utility and repaired permissions

Reboot and video is back to normal.

My ethernet port works without having to do anything

Running off a Linksys Wireless-G Game Adapter

My installed kext is IONetworkingFamily v 1.6.0

Next things to fix

1. In About This Mac - when I look at Audio (built in) it says "No Built In Audio" but I do get audio out the green port in the back

2. Under FireWire it saus "No FireWire Ports can be detected"

3. Power Management - goes to sleep but does not wake up (maybe BIOS setting?)

Update - I ran Virginizer and now I can't get the computer to boot up.

When booting up I get to the grey screen with apple log and the little wheel just spins and spins

Luckily I backed up with Time Machine - but I don't know how to restore if I don't boot into system.

I can't even boot with -x

1&2 come from AppleSMBios. It is hard to fix right. Firewire works, when You

connect something.

Sleeping and wakening depends on kernel. If You really use 9.1, it should

works now.

In terminal: uname -a

Apple Menu / About this mac / more info / software will let you know what kernel you have.Sleep simply doesn't work for me. No matter what kernel I use. There is a "sleep kernel" it is the default on kalyway 10.5.1. I doesn't work for sleep for me. I assume the 9.2 kernel is more like the original mac (vanilla) kernel than 9.1. I set power management so that it never sleeps. If you get sleep to work correctly let me know. I think 9.2 is better because the real OSX 10.5.2 uses the 9.2 kernel.I am using 9.2.

Update - I ran Virginizer and now I can't get the computer to boot up.When booting up I get to the grey screen with apple log and the little wheel just spins and spins
I wonder if the virginizer I sent you should have been run before the 10.5.2 update. I have never tried it after. If you can boot, run the 10.5.2 update again.

I reinstalled because I could not figure out how to use Time Machine.

I am at Kalyway 10.5.1 with the Video Upgrade 1.0 - strange that it worked and I did not need to replace kexts - it just worked.

As for Power Management - it works. Screen goes blank, computer shuts down, fans and HD turn off.

I have USB keyboard and mouse. Both keyboard and mouseclick work to wake up the computer.

I am now wondering if I want to do any of the 10.5.2 updates

Now time to smoke a doob to celebrate

My XBench score = 105

CPU Test = 71

Memory Test = 132

Quartz Graphics = 144

OpenGL Graphics = 233

User Interface = 144

Disk Test = 60.7

> I am now wondering if I want to do any of the 10.5.2 updates

Apple: 130 improved things in new 10.5.2 system.

Would You please read my 1. post again ?

I write, what You need:

- Kalyway_leo_10.5.1.iso distro

- Restore_Factory_Desktop_settings

- KalywayIntelCombo10.5.2

- kalyway_10.5.2_kernels.mpkg

I do not write, that You should use any graphics update.

Kalyway distro expressly carefully left old working apple-

intelintegrated framebuffer in hacked system and mixed

it rights with the new parts. There is very little graphics

anomaly left.

Then I write, that kernel 9.1 works well with new full updated

and improved system 10.5.2. I write too guide, how to move

back that well working 9.1 kernel. It is left in root with new name

"tohkernel" or something.

Kernel 9.1 is well made for this machine. It sleeps and wakes

well. No kernel panic or _any_ anomalies. = It is not broken.

It is difficult for me to see any reason, why anyone should use

kernel 9.2, which actually not works so well in THIS hacked machine.

> "9.2 is near vanilla" ... ehh... it is a little bit meaningless.

(I do not want to be impolite - do none think so.)

This machine is not apple. <- read again, and think that.

Understand that. Deeply.

This is PC machine, motherboard made by Intel. It starts actually

from bios, not any efi. We have only software version of efi, which

make this machine only one step - babystep - closer to real mac.

- 9.1 is fullworking kernel. In this machine. - It sleeps and wakes.

- 9.2 do not both of that. (in this time)

I write You: In terminal: uname -a

20 minutes later You ask, how You can identify, which kernel You have ?

Answer is still: in terminal: uname -a

Now is time to You to read Tutorials (the Genius Bar) section in this forum.

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showforum=45

Almost everything is there.

-.-

Sincerely Yours

This makes me smile....

Not only Dock have problems, for example in all menus, submenus doesn't appear automatic..and if i launch an application this window's applcation starts in back of the others applications, so i have to click again in application (on dock for example) to put window in front. Do you understand me? (bad english :D ) . So, there are different rpoblems that i don't understand...but i think that GMA950 is not the problem.

I have had this problem. Usually on first start after being off all night. For some reason my computer needs to "warm up". Let the computer run for five minutes, then restart. See if it goes away.

You have not been impolite.

Yes, I used a poor choice of words. I am not a kernel builder/expert. Because the version of OSX that runs on real macs uses kernel 9.2, I believe our hacked kernel 9.2 is closer to the real mac (vanilla) kernel 9.2. I think the same source code is used. So using kernel 9.2 PROBABLY has some advantages. I do not know what those advantages are. Sleep, for me, does not work no matter which kernel I use. This is why I use kernel 9.2.

If sleep works for you with kernel 9.1 - you should use it. That's what I would do.

Wow!!! All fixed it!! I found in google that the magnificcation problem is a mac problem, not a hackintosh problem. Found here:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?m...ID=5612820&

One guy discovered that the problem is wireless mouse, and yes, if i change my mouse or unplug and plug wireless mouse all problems fixed!!

Now i can say, that i have perfect (well...perfect not, but without any problems) with intel 945GNT Mobo and 10.5.2 and 9.2.0 kernel.

Thanks all, specially Marliwahoo.

Update on Sleep

I updated to 10.5.2 but I still have kernel 9.1

used KalywayUpdCombo10.5.2.pkg

If I wake system when screen is black and fans running it works perfect

If I wake system after the fans stop the sleep works about 66%.

Occassionally when it wakes up it goes to a screen that says "You must reboot"

Sometimes the screen goes black but fans do not stop and then it just does not start after button click and I have to reboot with power button

tle88 and marliwahoo - thanks for all the great help!

Ok. Now sleeping is even possible.

Source: http://netkas.org lower... in february 20:

" 4) Speedstep kernel can’t sleep, stop asking about it. "

(edit: speaking is now 9.2, old 9.1 works well)

Netkas is The Man, who write - fix - kernel code from source.

Most worst problem is that Your machine seems works accidental in this case.

Screen is black; ok. monitor sleeps independent. If TCO is 03 it should works.

Fan stop; Your powersupply sleeps too. Now... You have ATX powersupply, and

they finds many different ages, different standards and most important, different

quality.

Intel have different standards for ATX:

==== snip ====

ATX 1.0 12V PSUs included:

20-pin connector (2x10)

P4 connector

ATX 1.3 12V PSUs include:

20-pin connector (2x10)

6-pin AUX

SATA connector available

P4 connector

ATX EPS 12V PSUs (server PSU) include:

24-pin connector (2x12)

P4 connector

8-pin (2x4) server connector

ATX 2.0 12V PSUs include:

24-pin connector (2x12) - needed for PCI-Express

P4 connector

SATA connector standard

6-pin (2x3) PCI-E connector

ATX 2.2 12V PSUs include:

24-pin connector (2x12) - needed for PCI-Express

P4 connector

SATA connector standard

6-pin (2x3) PCI-E connector

Updated power efficiency and requirements

ATX 2.0 and 2.2 are the newest standards. (#wrong, newest is 2.3 in this time)

If your motherboard requires a 24 pin ATX connector, or

if you have a PCI Express video cards, but you have an ATX 1.3 PSU,

you can use the following adapters to adapt your PSU to work

with your motherboard or video card.

==== end ====

When You built Your machine, Did You use atx 2.0 or 2.2 powersupply ?

I have Sharkoon SHA-535-9A 2.2 and it works excellent. (Enermax made?)

I built to my wife new machine, and she has Coolermaster CM iGreen Power 600W.

It works well. Both of them are "high quality" powersupply, which have all

properties.

I think and believe, that Your problem is Your powersupply. - Especially if it

is old, cheap, or unknown. High quality powersupply is essential backbone of

high quality machine. Every single part are connected with it.

I personally keep efficiensy % equal of the design quality. Over 85% is good

and acceptable now days.

tle88 - you are freaking amazing!

I bought the AOpen QF50A

http://www.infonec.ca/site/main.php?module...il&id=13833

It was 50% off - so $40.

Unfortunately now I realize that it might not be good because it has older - I think v1.3 power supply.

I had to buy a 20pin to 24pin adapter for the motherboard.

Also there were no SATA power connectors so I spent $2 on a ATX to SATA converter.

In the end - the computer works well enough.

The Sleep issue (which is intermittent) is not that big a deal

Thanks again for all your help!

(Nice to see a few other people build on this motherboard)

I checked my start up log in Applications/Utilities/Console and I had many system.kext errors. I don't think the system.kext 9.1 works well with kernel 9.2. I don't think the original system.kext 9.2 works well with hacked kernel 9.2 (it only works correctly with vanilla). If you are using hacked kernel 9.2 you MAY need hacked system.kext 9.2. Check your start up log - if there are no erors, don't change anything !

So I don't have to keep sending pm's ..... here are several important, legal, files to download for this mb. http://rapidshare.com/files/94788664/Kerne...aphics.zip.html

  • 2 weeks later...

This is update for kalyway 10.5.2 short install guide

to D945GNTLKR motherboard's owner.

What You need is:

1. Kalyway_leo_10.5.1.iso

MD5 for KALYWAY_LEO_10.5.1_intell_SSE2_SSE3.zip

aff692cfe4daaae471f528974f5bac07

MD5 for kalyway_leo_10.5.1.iso

f8546bde2a5b3c7dff47f2aab31862a9

Format disk in one partition, guid partition map

and install efi_8.0 in custom section. Nothing else.

Do not use any other disk to do that.

You need only kalyway disk.

After installation: Boot again with DVD.

In terminal: diskutil list

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 (Your's disk number)

p

f 2 (mbr=1, guid=2)

write

yes

exit

reboot , take dvd out.

Now Your's bootdisk right second partition is activated.

2. Restore_Factory_Desktop_settings

http://rapidshare.com/files/83213596/Resto...ttings.zip.html

3. KalywayIntelCombo10.5.2

http://rapidshare.com/files/91765467/Kalyw...o10.5.2.zip.001

http://rapidshare.com/files/91770109/Kalyw...o10.5.2.zip.002

http://rapidshare.com/files/91774139/Kalyw...o10.5.2.zip.003

http://rapidshare.com/files/91776560/Kalyw...o10.5.2.zip.004

4. kalyway_10.5.2_kernels.mpkg

http://rapidshare.com/files/92028888/kalyw...ernels.mpkg.zip

5. New sleeping 9.2 kernel from rapidshare

http://rapidshare.com/files/96266354/mach_kernel.bz2.html

+ Last QuickTimes & iTunes, with efi_8.0 You can

use _all_updates_ in Apple's update sites.

But: Do not use Leopard's graphics update 1.0 with GMA-950.

If You use GMA-950, You lost different resolution.

Separate videocards should be ok.

You can change old kernel to new by this way:

Put new kernel in root with name "mach_kernel_new"

Boot again with Kalyway dvd. Open terminal.

cd /Volumes/xxxxxx (<-Yours bootdisk name here)

ls -la

( com.apple.boot.plist: kernel name must be "mach_kernel" => )

cp mach_kernel mach_kernel_old (copy old kernel with new "old" end, if You want to do that)

cp -f mach_kernel_new mach_kernel (copy mach_kernel_new over mach_kernel)

chown root:wheel mach_kernel* (fix rightness...)

chmod 644 mach_kernel* (and userlevel)

Reboot. Should works now with new sleeping mach_kernel version 9.2

It sleeps and wakes well, and usb works now too. <- good.

It seems, that usb driver depends on a little bit right kernel version.

http://developer.apple.com/hardwaredrivers...d/usbdebug.html

Everyone should update new 9.2 sleeping kernel from rapidshare.

Old 9.1 toh_kernel sleeps and wakes well, but usb automount was problematic.

New last sleeping 9.2 fix everything.

===

JaS is making new 10.5.2 distro. Is it time to give back Sigmatel 9220

driver in that distro ?

OK, I'm running a 945gntl with a Celeron D. I have successfully installed Kalyway 10.5.1 onto my SATA drive. I have replaced the Kernel with the ToH kernel, but I can't get to the login screen unless I boot in Safe Mode (using -t) in which I can get to the Desktop...

using -v the boot process displays a string of errors then stalls with:

Mac OS Version:

9818

Kernel version:

Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Sat Nov 17 02:56:34 SCT 2007; made by ToH:xnu-1228.0.2-1/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386

as the final lines...

looking further up, theres a mention of

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x001A88ED); Kernel trap at 0x20889332, type 14=page fault, registers:

etc etc etc

Error Code:0x00000002

Any ideas what's going on here??

Should add I'm running a quadruple boot system...

Ubuntu installed on IDE (had to be disabled to install)

XP on one partition of the SATA HDD

10.4.8 on another partition

10.5.1 on yet another partition

and general data on another partition

all partitions are MBR

I installed the MBR option in the Kalyway installer...
