I have read many posts about various drivers problems but can not find the right information to get the Power Management working.

I have tried the two different ways to upgrade Leopard to version 10.5.2 on my Kalyway installation...

First, by using the official package: "Sleep" works great and instantly (much better than Vista!) but "Restart" and "Shutdown" do not work, I have to push the button. Booting with "-v" shows that there is not crash somewhere... it simply blocks on the "HALT" command, the hard disk and monitor power off but not the motherboard.

Second, by using the KALYWAY packages including Vanilla kernel: "Restart" and "Shudown" work great but not "Sleep" because it also shutdown the computer.

Yes, I know that it it not related to the way of update but to the kexts files that Kalyway leaves from version 10.5.1. So, my question is: who is able to get the three functions working? And how??

My hardware is based on the Gigabyte GA-946GMX-S2 motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU.

Thanks your help! :D

sleep could be a problem in your gfx card

mine works ok with sleep/shutdown/restart and kalyway 10.5.1 (now 10.5.2)

8800GT is the card

i think that with 10.5.1 i had only problems with shutdown (it caused a sleep)

now shutdown works ok either

didn't have to replace any kext except smbios for the hardware recognise problem in 10.5.2

Thanks spanakorizo,

You are right, it must come from the display adapter because the O.S. does not try to enter into Sleep until I have installed the gfx drivers.

My card is a MSI GeForce 8600 GT with 256 MB of RAM and I am using the NVInstallerV.33 from http://scottdangel.com/blog/

Can you detail how you have updated to 10.5.2 and how you have installed your gfx drivers?
