Synthology
Greetings all, I have read a few posts regarding GMA950 and GMAX3100 Laptops with blue screens after the Leopard Graphics Update 1.0 It seems that not enough of us have yet screwed our laptops for more people to help us with a fix. Hopefully some of the more seasoned fellows will help the few of us who are stuck in this blue screen hell hole. Details: Sony VAIO NR160E-S ToH 10.5 (updated to 10.5.2 combo) EFI V8 (GUID) GMAX3100 Core 2 Duo 1.5Ghz Paulicat's X3100 Natit installed (not sure if its the latest one) Using SwitchResX Control - 1280x800 @ 120Hz (because the VAIO does some weird stuff on screen if you don't use it) And Paulicat's Natit does not support 1280x800 on GMAX3100 for some reason Before the update I delete all GMA950 files and the framebuffer to get Natit X3100 working After the Graphics Update I deleted: All AppleIntelGMA950* kexts and bundle files - AppleIntegratedFramebuffer.kext And on every boot, Blue Screen and nothing else. Please advise if there is anyone out there running a smooth VAIO setup with X3100 and 10.5.2 with Leopard Graphics Update 1.0 Thanks in advance Prof. Synthology P.S. This was posted on the same laptop in 10.5.2 (with NO Leopard Graphics Update installed - had to do a clean install this time)

Xosx86
I have the same problem on my vaio vgn-110g with gma950. My advice don't worry about the damn graphics update, and be happy with 5.2 in all its glory! That's what I did after 10 REINSTALLS:(

Vanilla
My compaq c714nr has the same graphics chip onboard. I had no problem with the graphics update. Wierd. Did you try going through Paulicat's x3100 install thread steps again? v

Did you try going through Paulicat's x3100 install thread steps again? v I have not tried the install steps. Matter of fact, I didn't know there was such a thing. Please point me in that direction and I'll take it from there. Thanks. As for those who asked about my VAIO install: Quick crash course - Boot with ToH 10.5 (Using -x and -v at F8 install options) Otherwise, it'll hang forever. Install from there once booted. Delete anything that says 950 on it and the framebuffer and install Paulicat's Natit. For EFI, that's another can of worms altogether. I only wish to fix X3100 for my VAIO, and perhaps I will start a new thread on my complete install experience, which by the way rocks ass. Let me know if you would like that. Again, thanks for the heads up on the paulicat X3100 install process and please do enlighten me on that subject. I'll keep this post up to date on my success / failure. Cheers Prof. Synthology
BlackCH
It will work well as long as you delete the GMA950 and the intelIntegratedFramebuffer kexts as soon as they are installed in the extension folder. You could use Netkas mini script from the combo update but modded for deleting the intelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext It worked well on my HP Compaq 6720 (X3100, 965 chipset)

Meaning, new graphics extensions, same Natit and performance. Also, what will happen if you don't delete the kext files immediately? Will it forever boink your graphics, or can you restore them with 10.5.1 kexts? Thanks, Prof. Synthology
Andre Tannus
GAAGHH!!! Whata??? Guys.... i´ve run Kalyay´s 2008 release (the latest one for 10.5.2); it installs clean and perfect... but it won´t boot, dogoneit! fine, i slap in the dvd and wait... it starts booting from the samsung external HD (usb), but then I get the long dreaded BLUR SCREEN, but mine isn´t happy enough being green, it is also broken.... looks like it´s displaced 1/3 of the way to the left, overlaping the right wide.... just like those classic wrong driver/resolution errors in windows. on vaio nr160e... thank you...
