Hey Folks,

I'm not as familiar with OSX as winXP. Had an easy time installing Kalyway on a GIGABYTE G31M-S2L. Everything worked out of the box using MTOTHO's guide except the audio. I didn't select the azalia packages during install customization.....

I tried installing the azalia_ADI1988 from the Kalyway 10.5.1 disk or the 10.4.8.azalia.audio package, but no luck. Still not sound hardware available.

Can anyone give me a suggestions as to how to fix this. I know it's possible, I'm just too much of a noob with OSX to know how.

cheers

Mike

AzaliaAudio.pkg should give 2ch output on most High Def Audio chipsets

We already get this with stock iAtkos install. Some of us here want more than the generic output, eg. headphones and mic. The thread you linked to is for ALC88x, not ALC662.

hey,,,

did you get an answer for thios i have a hp laptop 1660se and it looks great no sound and no audio output input under perferences....i tried reinstalling using a different audio option in custimize during install but no luck then i tried using pacifist with the azela package...no luck...HELP!...lol didnt mean to scream...we are real close but so far....

get the driver from the realtek website. that's what I did. now if I can get efi audio to work. I'd be chilling. I have the same mobo.

I know my reply is a little late, but as I'm a relative newcomer to the Hackintosh scene... How did you manage to get ALC662 OSX drivers from the Realtek website? First (as of right now, anyway) they don't *offer* ALC662 specific drivers on their website--only datasheets and reference designs. Second, they only offer Windows or Linux versions of their audio drivers; again, how did you manage to procure these fantastical seeming OSX drivers?

I apologize if I come across as somewhat harsh, but after having spent some serious time studying up before buying the parts for my Hackintosh system, it seems like there is quite a lot of deliberate misinformation in this community all done in the name of "strutting". If these do indeed exist, please post them, I (and many others, I'm sure) would *love* to see them. If it were such an easy fix, if these drivers did really exist, there wouldn't be 800 posts from people going, "WHY WON'T MY ALC662 ONBOARD AUDIO WORK IN OSX?!" There would be a post in a FAQ saying "You need this driver, it's downloaded here, here's how to install it. Now your audio works." Guess what? This hasn't happened. Am I wrong? Prove it.

Again, if my harshness isn't warranted, I apologize. But, I'm now stuck in the same boat as many, many other people. I bought a board that everyone and their lying brother claimed worked 100% out of the box, except...oh, wait, the audio doesn't work...and there aren't any real details on how many amazing gurus of the Hackintosh scene got their never-seen-by-anyone-else system's audio working.
