Google is trying to ride to Yahoo's rescue to fend off a $44.6 billion takeover bid of the Sunnyvale Web portal by Microsoft.

Eric Schmidt, Google's chief executive, called Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang to offer help Friday, just after Microsoft disclosed its $44.6 billion offer, according to news reports.

It shall be interesting. I never really cared for Yahoo! much though.

I used Netscape's site for my first E-mail and personal home page, and loved it.

Yahoo! was popular with some other kids I knew, but just seemed like a knock off. I don't know who actually came up with that sort of thing first, though.

I like Google, I love Gmail, and can only see positive if Yahoo! deals with Google, or if MS Live takes it over.
