darkten
Hi! Some of you know this, some don't. I run a little software outfit for a living, but as a "community service" the guys and myself port and compile software for Intel Macs. We've setup a pretty iWeb site/blog that sort of chronicles this effort and offers downloads. It can be found here: Dark Ten An RSS feed is provided as well. We try to get one or two things released per day, tho I'm honestly not sure how sustainable that rate is I've been asked how it is we decide what to work on. Basically, if its something one of us is interested in, we do it...but we get ideas from places like this forum. I'd like to ask YOU to give me some suggestions of things you'd like to see. Things that have *source code* Also, I'd appreciate it if a moderator could make this sticky; its a bit of a drag hunting thru the messages trying to find things people might be looking for, then posting the results deep in a random thread. What we've got done, and released so far: RegionX DynamicDNS Client E-UAE Marathon/Aleph One Acqlite iPodDisk Maelstrom AC3Codec.component What's on the slab: Hatari <--likely today Abuse (I need to find it...lotta drives here, done over a week ago...oops) Xmame .103 <-The core was ported earlier this week, and we now have a Not-too-Shabby app wrapped around it...likely to be released today What do you want to see? Let me know...if its viable, its done. Note that we're actually full-time developers and are doing this for fun..."giving back" as it were. If you want to support this effort, let us know what you want, and maybe try/buy one of our products (sorry, they made me do the plug thing...I swear it). Note also that we develop on actual Apple hardware...ymmv if you aren't using such a thing More importantly, don't "hassle" me, but by all means let me know whats out there. Its a great way for us to discover new apps we've never seen One more thing: this stuff isn't officially supported by the company. I had to say that, too...just in case. darkten
thanks darktenthe ac3 component is just hot do you have a soluction for wmv files? maybe have a opensource component arround there The only thing around that gets that job done right now is the Flip4Mac plugin. What I do is convert that stuff to something else (usually MP4) for use on my ipod. It takes forever (on an Intel mac) because dip into Rosetta to do it, but forever is just a slightly shorter amount of time than "never" -D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8454-dark-ten-portscompiles/#findComment-52397 Share on other sites
domino
I guess porting hardware drivers are out of the question . I'm guilty of using some of your ports often, especially asteriod and xmame. Thanks for all the efforts! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8454-dark-ten-portscompiles/#findComment-52425 Share on other sites
wesley
Just like to comment that the AC3 component works on a 'Hackintosh' running 10.4.3, but does not work properly on actual Intel Mac (Core Duo Mac mini) running 10.4.5. Perhaps a recompile is needed? I've tried the component in both the root and inside the src folder.
