  1. Red Alert 3 Cider Port

I got this somewhat running via Crossover Games, and know how to get past the language packs thing via cider...but via cider, it goes full screen, then quits. It seems to be complaining about dfe.dll/libdfe. I have no idea what this is or why i wouldn't have it.

Hey basdart... PM me...We can do this on iChat/AIm and I can send you whatever you need. This is one of those things I am 900% dedicated to getting working...like..today. MUST. HAVE.
  3. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 ?

That is what I did, yes. It should be 10 chars long, and start with a letter, such as WYS1WYG0MG

for people that seem to have constant problems with stuff not working, perhaps it would help to explain a couple do's and don'ts The most important is to NOT keep running with -f as a "fix"; Some of the extensions we need may not be the newest ones, and and when force every kext to load, you may very well be *unloading* an extension that would have worked. If your use the set that is provided on the 132 iso i made, these are known to work as every one was tested one at a time and the dependencies resolved. Some extensions will not load if others they deem critical are not first available. Also, any time you ad or remove an extension, at a minimum, the Extensions.mkext *must be rebuilt*. I don't know about the efi boot, but I do know that -f on the early on /Extras set does NOT rebuild that cache and whatever it was you thought you changed won't be changed. Additionally, the .mkext in the /Systems/Extension folder *will be* recreated with who-knows-what, and at boot time, the os always gives deference to the cache/mkext if it is present. If you are using the version of this that I made, the best "recovery" method is to trash /Extra, reinstall from Chameleon for mini9, and reboot. Avoid -f. If uou aren't fixing anything, don't break it. Also, remove /System/Library/Extensions.mkext before your reboot. Check your com.apple.Boot.plist file as well. In/for normal operation, there should NOT be a -f option set in the Kernel Flags. Not Only does this make the boot time needlessly long, it causes the issue i mentioned above.

The stuff on the EFI partition or in the /Extras folder loads first...very early, in fact. If the early loaded version is greater or the same, it is retained.

The most interesting thing I saw was that we both have, or rather *had* the same Serial Number. I changed mine and am working (kinda) on a simple tool to make sure that at least at install, everyone has a different one Basically, if you use this boot flag: SerialNum= you can set the serial number to what you want.

I noticed you have no SMBIOS output...that doesn't seem right...
  8. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 ?

Yep. that is the set i have, nothing more, nothing less. To further ensure this, I threw out my whole extras folder, re-installed via the chameleon on the iso, rebooted. Sound still works, so I know i isn't anything in there. I recall that i used the installer on the iso as well for the sound, the ALC268_Installer1. I really don't know what else to tell you
  9. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 ?

Well, I install from what was posted, so nothing is left out...as for settings...i didn't change anything. I simply ran the installer and rebooted. Perhaps you guys should post screenshots of the contents of your extra folder?
  10. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 ?

as do i. sound works here, tho.
  11. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 ?

This appears to be a legacy usb bios issue; it seems that if you unplug some external usb drives and let them spin up again, it gets past this issue. Once the os is installed, it works as expected.
  12. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 ?

Well...wake from sleep doesn't work. You're done Everything else you mentioned above does in fact work. With stuff that is known to work, and people having a problem, don't really know what to tell you. If you buy/have an apple retail leo install, and do what either type11 or i tell ya, you get yerself from a dell mini 9 the most compatable mac osx netbook out there *out of the box*. You do it some other way, YMMV. But for you, having a netbook that has everything that is on apple hardware working, (audio/video/wireless/wired lan/ports/usb/media buttons) and things that don't exist ignored (multicard reader) with exactly 1 - 1.5 Known Issues (wake from sleep hang, weird shutdown thing from time to time) is a non-starter for you, then i'd say go ahead and pass...Apple will likely make a product for you after Dell proves enough people want them The thing is, I don't remember this happening before. We changed something. Does anyone have the powermamagement.bundle that PeteRock posted way, way back installed *in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration ? I remember he specifically posted a MiniBattery and MiniSleep post. At least, I think it was him
  13. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 ?

No way did you do that; the limitations are well known and fully documented
  14. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 ?

Ok, there may be a solution here, programmatically. Could you test and see if doing a kextunload on he audio stuff, then shutting down...if this prevents the panic every time? I believe we can catch the "will shut down" messages and write something that unloads the audio.
  15. Dell Inspiron Mini 9 ?

Ok, here is a Mini9 System Preferences pane that should help keep your mini 9 straight: Mini9.prefpane.zip Just unzip and double-click to install. Let me know if there are any questions/problems. NOTE: if you have/need custom strings in your boot.plist, do not use this. It was made for 'stock' installs that use chameleon dfe for hd/mini 9, not efi partition setup.
