fatshitcat
Before making any foolish assumptions.... I HAVE an Internet connection I DID pay my bills for my ISP I CAN surf the internet. I finally have Mac OS X 10.5.1 for two days. And I have never used it before. First I had Transmission, and it downloaded everything without problems. Then I updated severally and it stopped working. It showed no seeders at all, though the torrent it had at about 230. Today I installed Azureus hoping it would work. I have 2.5.0.4 This hangs at "Downloading", recognizes the seeders, but does not download from them, though it shows the tracker(the bay) is OK. Is it possible that I screwed up something at System Settings or somewhere else? My internet connection works flawlessly, the probem appears only when trying to download torrents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can give you my soul.
MyPancakePlaces
This happened to me when I installed Leopard. However it was fixed when I upgraded to 10.5.

hecker
Make sure that you have correctly set your TCP and UDP ports in your firewall, router and client.

Azurael
Are you sure Leo's Firewall (in System Preferences/Security) isn't set to allow only system services?
fatshitcat
no, it's "Allow all incoming connections"
hecker
You can learn how to configure your router's ports here: http://www.dessent.net/btfaq/#ports Post back if you need any further explanations. Cheers, hecker
Azurael
Even if the OP's router isn't allowing incoming connections on BitTorrent ports, it's nothing to do with his problem, it'll just slow his downloads. Consider the fact that it used to work, and the only change is an OS.
fatshitcat
Did some research, and most likely the problem is that the port Azureus uses is closed. How can I open it? To open ports in the Mac OS X firewall, do the following: Open System Preferences. Click Sharing. Select the Firewall tab. Click the New... button. Click the popup menu in the dialog that appears, and choose Other.... In the Port Number, Range, or Series field, enter 6881-6999. In the Name field, enter BitTorrent (or any other identifying string.) Click OK. Now please someone tell me where is the firewall tab in "Sharing" cause over here there is no tabs in Sharing at all....... Isn't there a Terminal command or something? --------------------------------------------------------------- Update: I think I opened a port. this is what sudo ipfw list says 00010 allow tcp from any to any dst-port 6988 in 00010 allow tcp from any to any dst-port 6988 out 00010 allow tcp from any to any dst-port 6988 in 00020 allow tcp from any to any dst-port 6988 in 00020 allow tcp from any to any dst-port 6988 in 00100 allow tcp from 0.0.26.225 to 0.0.27.87 65535 allow ip from any to any and set Azureus to port 6988 However, this is what NAT / Server port shows Testing port 6988 ... NAT Error - Connect attempt to 86.106.185.75:6988 (your computer) timed out after 20 seconds. This means your port is probably closed. ---------------------------------------------------- Now what? I have a cable connection BTW. ---------------------------------------------------- Update 2 Reinstalled OS X. Same situation. Do you thin my ISP has blocked some of the ports? fatshitcat
Nevermind, it was my ISP that blocked my connection. They say it'll gonna be solved tomorrow and it was because of a flooding, so I am scanning with NAV11 right now. Thanks for the support guys. ------------------------------------------------------------------
