nate256
i am going to build a hackintosh with the core 2 quad q6600 and was wondering what the best cooling is. i dont have any knowledge about water cooling so if someone could give me some info that would be nice!!!!!!!! thanks. and how do you go about over clocking?? like is it in BIOS or do you need a program??? thanks again
tazevedo317
most of the time if you buy an overclocking capable motherboard you can do it through the bios. i know there is a program called like SoftFSB for windows xp that helps you over clock. i think the best cooling is water cooling. it has 4 main componets. the pump, waterblock, radiator&fan, and the liquid tank. the pump pushed the liquid to a waterblock that goes ontop ofthe prosessor like a fan would. then it gets pushed through another part of the water block to a radiator and then out the radiator where its cooled tothe tank where it gets pumped to the waterblock, etc. the way i have mine set though is i have thepump going to the radiator. and then out the radiator to the cpu. so right after is gets cooled it goes to the cpu.. then out the cpu and too the tank. if you have a good video card you could also buy a waterblock of the card and put it into the waterloop. post up your motherboard and other specs and im sure everyone on this forum will help you. socal swimmer
It is in BIOS. There are programs you can use, but the safest and most reliable way is to go through BIOs. http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/11/08/dua...quad/page8.html that is a good overclocking guide, and compares dual core to quad core (along with price), and talks about cooling, motherboards, etc.
foodfightr
The best cooling is phase change cooling. Its basically the equivalent of taking an air conditioner or a freezer and focusing all of its cooling at a single point. That being said you probably won't be using phase cooling. If you're new to overclocking I'd reccomend air cooling, such as the Thermaltake Big Typhoon with some Arctic Silver 5 for thermal paste.
