magic0200
Due to my Laptop having the horrible Atheros 500xX card, I was wondering if anyone can advise me on a working usb wlan stick (pref b/g) that works with leopard. I was looking at the ASUS WL-167G, however someone on NewEgg stated it was not compatible. TIA for any advise Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/78901-wireless-usb-lan-stick-compatible-with-leopard/ Share on other sites

Azurael
WL-167G works fine, although it's a pretty crappy wireless card (I get loads and loads of packets sent/received with errors, which need retransmission and slow the connection down hugely) It's OK for web browsing, and that's about it. I'm told this problem is endemic in USB wireless devices, which might be because most of them have crappy Ralink chipsets like this one But then again, that's why it works in OS X too. A mixed blessing, one might say! magic0200
Thank you so much for the replies..... Thanks for the advice on the card and to be honest with the atheros I don't know which exact version I have on my acer 3680-2249. My first one had 5005G which was a breeze to use in 10.4. But after getting a refurb I haven't been able to figure out which version I have. Is there a way to find this information with OSX or Darwin -v boot? magic0200
Thank you all for your advice. I'll probably Go with Ralink hardware or D-link. Now I just wished people would update the WIKI with newer laptops for 10.5 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/78901-wireless-usb-lan-stick-compatible-with-leopard/#findComment-562346 Share on other sites
Gahca
Does anyone know of a usb wireless that will work without a driver for Leopard or do all of them need a driver since Leopard is running on PC?
