Hi guys,

some time ago I installed native osx86 on my PC and it was nice to see it's working but graphics was unuseable. VESA 3.0 with Nvidia 6600GT agp card.

I need to work on MAC in Adobe Indesign & Photoshop.

MY QUESTION IS:

Is there any stable version of osx86 install and hardware that will full support it so I can work in Adobe software in 1600x1200 @ 85Hz resolution ?

Thank you !

MB with this GA http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma900/index.htm shall support that resolution.

if you need it for WORK, you're better off using a real Mac. at least until Adobe release Unibins of Photoshop and Indesign. not sure whether colour calibration would work that well without the correct "display" or a fully working driver either. imo only, of course.

works 100% on my x86 pc =)

ofcourse, in windows it does the Photoshop CS2 test in the applications forum about 10 - 15 seconds faster

but now that i got both processors running smoothly it should be working even better on x86 osx

So you are working in MACosx86 in photoshop and indesign flawlessly ?

Can you do 1600x1200 @ 85Hz resolution ?

What components did you use to build your MAC osx86 ?

nvidia 6600GT card ? That card supports just vesa mode.....

I'm talking about serious work, not VESA mode Photoshoping.

One more question, that your Photoshop is for native mac and PowerPC cpu ?

Thank you...

distance, as somebody already explained to you, you're an idiot. he/she just used gentle words.

1. if you need "serious work", use a "real computer/OS pair". we just have chariots and horses in here, aka hacked systems, modified drivers and other patches. they work. at least for fun, they work.

2. there are tens of forums and hundreds of web pages that are saying that "adobe will port photoshop to intel somewhere in the summer", but, again, you need "serious work", sorry.

I just asked normal question cause I don't know how good/stable is the software on intel hardware as I don't have it at home.

No need for this to get out of hand...let's not assume anyone is an idiot (and I'll be the first to admit I sometimes am). I use Photoshop CS2, Illustartor, and Quark on a G5 dula at work, on my PC with both Windows XP and OSX Intel at home. I would consider it "serious" work. The reason I like the OSX versions of the programs at home is compatibilty...fonts, file formats. I have no problem converting but some mac users and service bureaus do. I run a 20" flat panel 1600x1200, intel GMA900 graphics with an ADD2 DVI adapter. The flat panel runs at 60hz....if I used a CRT monitor I'm sure it would do 85.....it is a fully supported adapter. For now you would either need this type graphics adapter or maybe an ATI to do that res. If it is speed you need, then stick with non-rosetta performance...run Photoshop on Windows. It works fine with OSX, just takes a 40% performance hit. Quark is quite useable on a fast machine, as is Illustrator. Only real problem I've had is that camera raw import is broken for CS2/10.4.3 latest build - some don't have this problem. When unibins or intel mac versions of these things come along, provided we can run them on our non-mac hardware, things will be better. One problem to consider using OSX86 this way for any critical task is nobody (except the kinder souls here) are going to support you when something doesn't work.

please take the time to read the system specs in my signature

because thats what im using, and i am starting graphic design as a career, and it's fine. ive worked on dual 1.8 g5's and my PC using OSX is faster.

i bench at 101 on xbench. the G5 benches at 75. and that's with driver and OpenGL support. so take it for what it's worth. resolution is listed in signature.

if i get full openGL support, and proper binaries for adobe programs, then i will use this exclusively for graphics

Careless - what OSX resolution can you get with the 6600 VESA, and how did you go about getting them? My GMA 900 works well as a stopgap OSX adapter solution, but nearly any PCIE card I would add would help me in Windows....like the thread starter, I really need to run hi-res 2-D for page layout.
