vbetts
The later socket 478 pentium 4 "upgraded" to sse3, but it's not a common thing to see really. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74968-socket-478-sse3/#findComment-529489 Share on other sites
jricks92
I have the same socket 478 Pentium 4 with no sse3. I've done some research and the Celeron D processors have sse3 and are socket 478. Hyper X
Hey not to Hijack but. I have one of those Prescott P4 2.8E so that should be SSE3 good right? Also I have it in an Intel 875PBZ Mobo. Should I be able to use EFI and Vanilla Kernal? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74968-socket-478-sse3/#findComment-529519 Share on other sites
ToaDsiX
Hyper X, No, you cannot use vanilla kernel with that processor. You have to use a patched one. You can however use EFI with vanilla kexts. Your mobo and processor are fine for mac install and yes it should be SSE3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74968-socket-478-sse3/#findComment-529544 Share on other sites
