I have just installed 10.4.1 on my machine. I have also ran the 10.4.3 updater. My machine will shutdown but not restart. It just sits there with the round spinning thingy (same one you get when 1st booting up). Has anyone had this problem? I also downloaded the 10.4.3 Wesler DVD and when i installed, it got about 1/2 way thru and gave a message about an error and that i would have to restart. Any help with that problem?

thanks, wireless guy

i installed 10.4.1 as well.. and most of it is just peechy... sounds works, ps2 keyboard, usb storage devices, 1280x1024 resolution, lan, the only thing that's bugging me is that i can't restart the machine.. i can shut it down but it just locks up with the a blue screen and the grey spinning thingie.. i haven't installed any patches except for those that came with the release.. the sse2 and maxxus one i think..

hope someone can give me a few hints to solve this..

I have not experienced this with my intel chip, but I did get the same problem

when installing 10.4.3 8F1111A on my friends AMD system.

No fix other than actual shutdown though.

I believe that this is another symptom of the fact that OSx86 has minimal

support for ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface)

Apparently it supports reboot on some hardware configs and not others.

Not surprisingly AMD is in the latter category, since Apple is working with

intel chips... My intel machine for example can't seem to send a proper ACPI signal

to put my monitor to sleep and will instead hang with a frozen screensaver

after the timeout set for monitor sleep. I think just another symptom of the

same problem. We just have to deal for now, it could be worse though,

just having to shutdown and hit the power key instead of restart, right? ;)
