Building a hack

So its been awhile since I had a hackintosh (bought a MBP,) but I am considering building one for my mother for xmas. Her current computer is pretty damn old, and when ever i go to visit i spend half my time working on the thing. So I have a few criteria: (1) Has to be reliable, (2) Work with EFI, (3) cheap.

I have picked out a few things from newegg, here are the wish lists:

let me know what you think.. would love to hear from people who have used similar hardware

thanks

I agree with nagal. If I was you I would just purchase a mac ;)

Also in both of your wishlists it says a Celeron. If I was you I would stay away from them with Hackintoshes becuase I have had loads of Hiccups with them.

well i dont even know if she will use os x, she may just stick with windows. since i am getting her a computer, figured i would at least give her the option to play with os x... then she can go out and buy her own mac.. cause i am broke college student

Suhail: What kind of hiccups have you experienced? Besides the CD/C2D series what would you recommend, pentium d?

I have a Pentium D but they have BAD heating issues although they do work with Tiger once AppleIntelCPUPowerManagment.kext is removed.

I don't think that with a cheap system like this OS X is even worth it. And if you're not sure that she's gonna like OS X, just stick with Windows and install Windows on the machine and everything will be fine. Windows is compatible with almost any hardware so its easier to pick out a system.
