Yes, but I don't think it's worth the effort or cost, as you can only upgrade to a faster Core 2 Duo mobile processor. These are very expensive, and it's also very difficult. Upgrading the Hard drive is also a real mission.

 

Upgrading the RAM is very easy though. You can do that yourself.

 

Bottom line: buy an iMac from Apple with the processor + HDD you want, upgrade your own ram, and use external storage if you need more space.

I would Imagine the Mac would be fine with a CPU upgrade and ought to recognise any current Intel mobile Socket-P CPU fine. It's certainly been the case with older Intel Macs with CPU swaps (like the minis upgraded with C2Ds.)

 

The graphics card is also upgradable (in theory at least) on the new iMacs, as they're all MXM cards. We'd need to find a source of MXM cards faster than the original Radeon HDs and then find an EFI firmware to flash onto them though, which isn't likely to happen in the near future, which is why I say in theory.
