that seems correct, i have not tried the 207 bios. I wiped the whole drive as i wanted to try out xp on the machine. after installing xp. i used partition magic to split the drive into 2. Xp~100gb and second partition 50gb. Then i used disk management to erase the second partition and then created it. didn't format it with any type filesystem. then i ran diskpart. select disk 0. select partition 2. and then active.

when i do detail on the second partition with disk part, it says id=af

the rest is as you said

Some news for the questions about the apparition of the webcam in system info, it's due to a USB malfonction, install the generic pc ehci kext (I don't remember where it was sorry, but i have found it in 2min...), easy found on the forum... This issue also causes the "no-mount usb drive" issue, that sometimes appends. Search for it, and usb will always works !

i tried doing this as it says on the link you showed me

1. Remove any non Windows/Apple Bootloader (like Acronis,Grub, etc...)
2. Make OSX partition active
3. Boot from the Install DVD, open Terminal from Utility
4. Going to /usr/standalone/i386 folder of the DVD
5. write "dd if=boot1h of=/dev/disk0s1 bs=512 count=1
6. Reboot and say welcome to Darwin Bootloader.

i used disk0s2 since my osx is on partition 2, but when i tried doing step 5 it would tell me resource busy so then i tried the next step.

1. sudo fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0
2. reinit
3. flag 1
4. write
5. exit
6. reboot

i used flag 2 because of the partition thing, and that worked. now when i try booting it gives me a b0 error

did i get closer to solving my problem or did i make it worse? :hysterical:

edit:

i made the windows partition active

and did the dd command and it worked, then switched active partitions and rebooted, it's still doing the same thing curser shows up and drops down 1 line and keeps flashing the same way it would be as if you have the cd was in, but nothing happens :police:

Medo:

I think when you do that method you have to unmount the disk or something... I honestly don't remember. That might be why you're getting the error with resource busy.

To solve the "using 10485 buffer...." error, try getting modified BIOS (see link in my siggy) or use 10.4.8 ACPI and APIC kexts, but only with 1 core.

Good luck!

@Wiwi,

Thanks so much for the info! now I have to dig it up :P

hello!

well, i got quite all i wanted to work in my f3sv, except audio!

did anybody excluding antaholics succeed in installing AppleHDA kexts?

i tried taruga's, maxoid's and alexit's drivers - most of them made audio visible, but no sound in any output.

i don't care about mic, i don't even care about headphones that much, i just want my internal speakers to play ANYTHING!

today i noticed there is master volume in midi options set for 0 and i can't change it, is there any way to change it in kexts?*

yes, i installed them properly,

yes, i deleted azalia kext,

yes! my speakers are working in xp.

*mastervol0nx9.th.png

isnt it master volume?

finally i have both booting xp and osx using the chain0, had to reinstall xp because the mbr was all messed up since i tried using the acroinis or whatever it is called, i got the modded bios, now i don't have to type any command to get the dvd to boot :P.

couple of questions

whats the benefit of vanilla vs the other kernel?

how do i get to view the hidden files on the dvd?

what do i need to get internet working (i know wireless is not working)?

should i reinstall and add the network options on the install

btw

in system profiler under hardware - audio (built in) it says intel high definition audio, but i hear no sound

Device ID: 0x10431339

vanilla is apple's original files.. the advantage is that you can use apple's update packages (not autoupdate, it'll probably kill it) without much patching in most cases. modified kernels for speedstep, etc are good too, but take time to produce.

to open hidden files on the DVD, I found the best way to do is to open the directory directly:

e.g.
open /Volumes/"DVD_Name"/System/Library/Extensions

if you're not sure what files are on the DVD, go:

cd /Volumes/"DVD_Name"/
ls ./

Internet, if you are using Attansic L1, you're out of luck. The driver has a thread, but the development (last i checked) is stopped. Your best bet is to buy a USB adapter. There's a site with drivers for working USB adapters here:

http://www.sustworks.com/site/news_usb_ethernet.html

if you have a couple more bucks to spare, the Apple USB Ethernet adapter for MBA should work too.

I really don't know about sound... :)

my lan driver in xp would be Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet (i think)

for some reason when i install the 3d card drive package and reboot, my system boots up and you can tell that the drivers are working since the top bar is transparent, but my keyboard doesn't work. :(

well i ended up reinstalling again

and this time on the setup i picked the realtek drivers to install and i have sound, i also picked the nvidia drivers kext and i don't know if im supposed tp pick any of the nvinject but i did select the nvinjectgo.

now when i boot i can't use the keyboard and touchpad unless i boot with -x

is there a driver interfering with the keyboard/3d card drivers. or kexts whatever you call them

Yeah I got the HDA kexts to work for my audio, my headphone jack and speakers both work properly now except for the fact that there is no mute. I got a broadcom card from ebay which worked out of the box for wireless, speedstep works perfectly I use the regular apple battery meter which works right away after replacing my ACPIPlatform.kext with the one that ant posted. The only things that I want to get working are sleep anyone have that working? and scrolling two finger preferred (not that fake 2 finger scrolling that comes up when you search for it, that was horrible). I know the touchpad can do actual 2 finger scrolling because I had it in windows once, where it didn't just scroll when a large part of the pad was covered, it actually needed two fingers. Oh I'm running 10.5.1, I just couldn't get 10.5.2 to work for me. I don't really care. Oh one thing.. iTunes said there was an update so I installed it, it installed a few other things, on reboot I got kernel panic so I had to install all over again! very frustrating.

i dont think there's any solution for sleep if it's not working after installation. i tried this fake 2 finger scrolling too, it does really suck. and i dont really think there is any other program for this either. and i got 10.5.2 to work! installed kaly's combo update, then this modified kernel, and it's really fine, loads quick and works great. Jermo - what's your audio card's model?

Well okay, if I press fn+F1 my computer will sleep just when I try and wake it up it wakes up with no display! that is what I mean by sleep not working.

@undefined - I don't know what my audio card model is. I messed up my windows install somehow and I haven't wanted to format that drive so I've just been using OSX since I got it on here. To get it working I replaced those two kexts from ant's sig and deleted azalia and then just went and selected internal speakers as output.

One thing though, I also have a usb external sound card that worked before with the original azalia kext but now it just makes horribly amplified crunching sounds if I try and use it. I would rather have headphones though. Any fix for the lack of mute yet?

Guest undefined

eww, i hate hearing that it all went so easy with those audio drivers. well, im using usb card, but it's so enormously huge, that it turns my laptop to a pc :P and nothing changed with sound quality from it before/after azalia, so i believe it's card's problem.

quick and nice substitute of mute is blank audio jack that you just plug to audio output and its muting for good ;)

All was easier if I didn't want to use headphones, my internal speakers worked right out of the box.. "make love and listen to the music" that was hilarious. I'm sorry yours aren't working! what is your computer model? I have an X1

but you know what, I have f3sr, and it's built on Santa Rosa platform, it uses same processor as older one Napa, but chipset differs, I think, that's the problem. (f3sv is on Napa, because it has Intel 3945 wireless, while Santa Rosa uses Intel 4965 wireless)

my f3sv-a1 is santa rosa and my sound works :)

I'm really sorry that some of you can't get yours to work... but currently I tried installing Vista Ultimate and it killed my OS X partition... the files are still there but it won't boot and disk repair gives me some invalid node error.

Here's the link in case anyone would like to help me with this ><"
