James_K
I have Tiger x86 working natively and perfectly with the new MAXXUSS patches (0.3). But I want to take Tiger and put it onto another hard drive. Is there a way to move it over? If there is, can I enlarge the partition while moving it over? Thanks alot in advance. bilditup1
I used Norton Ghost 8.0...it's on Hiren's BootCD, if you could find it, works like a charm. I'm sure there are other bootable CDs that have Ghost on them also... gordo
install darwin from the 8.0.1 cd on the new drive. Then boot into current version of osx86. Use the disk utility to restore the drive to the new one (keep erase unchecked). Rapair permissions on the new drive using disk utility worked for me. paulmoscow
Recently I bought a 915-based motherboard and was able to install clean system from DVD. I was quite impressed when Migration Assistant transferred all my stuff from the old hard disk. Woodat
Has anyone tried just plugging in the second hard drive and using Utilities-Disk Utility's "Restore" feature in OSx86 yet? That'd be the perfect method I'd think, unless it breaks something (haven't tried it on OSx86 yet) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/695-moving-tiger-x86-from-one-hard-drive-to-another/#findComment-5417 Share on other sites

Had a strike rate 1/4 attempts (been able to go from 6gb to 10gb but not 10gb to 20. EDIT: Ouch! now 1/5 strike rate. Even after repairing permissions and blessing the folder. guess this method worked as a fluke the first time. BMC6053
Ditto always exits abruptly for me. I guess I'll hafta get Carbon Copy to work - I initialy did a clone with the Disk Utility, but it only worked once. Perhaps the Disk Utilitly only allows a one time clone by default for some reason? BMC6053
Sorry for the double post, definitly Disk Utilities work - Trial and error. I'm note sure if this is will always work, but here goes anyway: From a working OSX86 install erase the destination disk then do your restore without overwriting anything, then this is were I rebooted and it got stuck on the apple screen so I shut dowon reboot and did the proccess again, except I didn't erase anything at all, and just did the restore and rebooted from the clone and everything just worked. Perhaps doing it twice in makes it work or it is truly trial and error? I'm not in the mood to test out another rescue though :-D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/695-moving-tiger-x86-from-one-hard-drive-to-another/#findComment-33000 Share on other sites
Jason Dax
I just use Norton Ghost in Hiren's CD to clone Mac OSX86 from 10GB partition to another in the same disk with 30GB. Work apparently fine. But, in diskutil, show this: " Mount Point : / Capacity : 29.3 GB (31,453,470,720 Bytes) (YEAH!!) Format : Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Available : 2.2 GB (2,314,412,032 Bytes)(???) Owners Enabled : Yes Used : 8.0 GB (8,625,209,344 Bytes)(?????????) Number of Folders : 31,887 Number of Files : 182,124" Somehow this look messed up. Its workin ok, (I'm writing this from mac)...but I don't know what to think.
