Just wondering if this project is still alive. I'm very grateful for all the hard work that folks like Maxxuss have put into this for us. I've successfully installed 10.4.3 8f1099 natively on my AMD64 Nforce4 system. But that's about as far as I can go.... all the "real" work is far over my head.

I guess to get networking to work I'll have to buy a supported ethernet card, but for the Nvidia kext I'm pretty much dependent on you smart people.

I've installed the Alpha MacVidia kext, though I can't tell if it's making any difference, couldn't tell exactly where to put the device and vendor id in the plist for my 7800GTX.

The system is blazing fast though, except for 3D support, playing Chess is pretty silly as slow as it is.

Does anyone know if the MacVidia folks are around? Is the project still alive? Is there any hope for pulling the Nvidia kexts off the new 10.4.4 imacs?

I'm pretty pessimistic about hacking the EFI system, though maybe Maxxuss or someone will surprise me, so I'm figuring the install I have now with a network card and some new Nvidia drivers will be the best I can get.

Do I have any reason to hope?

thanx for all the great help you guys have been so far!

NVidia drivers are supported under 10.4.4 as released with the new mactels. We just have to wait for the first macs to arrive to the population at large and I am sure **something** can be worked **out**. :(

DrJagermeister,,, are you saying that the new intel based iMac's only have ppc based nvidia drivers?

I was kinda hoping that the nvidia drivers would be universal, and could be pulled out of the new imac so we could install them on the bios versions of macosx86 that we're all running now.

I rather doubt they have x86 ones. No reason for them to spend any zots on them since all they have in x86 Macs are ATi graphics (explains why they got better support in 10.4.3). By the time they get ready to release updated powermacs (which will need conroe or merom at least), maybe they will since we'll have PCI-e slots to fill.
