BJMoose
Very nice system but I'd really question your choice of PSUs. 400W might be a bit underpowered for the potential this system offers. A minimum of 500-550W would be a better choice, especially if you're contemplating OC'ing and taking advantage of the BX2's hard/optical drive capabilities. minnie
I just put together pretty much the same thing. The intel is a good board, it makes a huge difference. We have rackmount cases in the studio, they don't vibrate at all, it's great. I had no trouble with XXX 10.4.10 Had to select ionetworking on install for network to log on properly, and the taruga patch for audio. Surprisingly pain free. However my graphics card is not a monster, there'll be 3HDDs and DVD RW, keeping my fingers crossed. Cheers. I am putting finishing touches now. system; Intel Quad Core Q6600, Bad Axe 2 mother board, Nvidia 7300GT, Zalman Reserator plus liquid cooler, 2GB DDR2 800mhz RAM. goodl
I have pretty much the same hardware, fairly painless install with XxX 10.4.10 ppf1 (ive dnoe it that many times now though, meh all good practice. Hows your .dmg mounting? mine didnt work and i had to put a manual kext reload fix to get it going, thought i think you can workaround it by installing toast Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/66906-bad-axe-2-q6600-ddr2-800-in-a-rack-mount-case/#findComment-481132 Share on other sites

Increased bus freq to 334 so Q6600 runs @ 3ghz. Surprised by the temperatures running around 34 C!! I am new to overclocking so I am not going to tweak further. esmith1977
I am making a Bad Axe 2 w/ 6600 system also... The docs say that the board can support 8 gigs of RAM... Can OS X support that amount of RAM on this board?
