what version of osx are you trying to install? it must have the 8.8.1 kernel.....that kernel is in the "jas 10.4.8" image....so only that version will work....and i can only support this version because that one works 100%!

if you trying to instal it to 10.4.9 you will get kernel panic at least....

and you have to choose the "intel package" so for your Quad the SSE3 is ok....

you dont need other package like speedstep.....and so on.....when you need it you can install it later!

so my advice is download the version of osx from my "tutorial" and you wont get a kernel panic....just choose the "intel package" and all will be fine....

about usb legacy...maybe you dont need such kind of option? you will see if your mouse and keyboard works without disabling it!

@insania

the quads are not going so good on the striker....because they have many FSB holes!

from 333FSB - 380FSB should work.....the a hole from 380FSB - 420FSB....and it should work then from 420FSB - 450FSB!

so to check 425FSB you have to put the value 1700 in the bios....for the FSB!

1800 for 450FSB.....its easy because you have to multiplie it with 4x

i have to try to set 1700 in the bios...

now i have a problema..i can't enable qe/ci...after i install the mac.nub installer, i have to remove the NVDAResman.kext...maybe is my video card, that isn't supported...how i can enable qe/ci???? i have linked the video card with my samsung 2232bw with dvi...please tell me how i can enable the qe/ci!!! :P bye!

cack333,

in fact, i can't find this option in my bios (strange)

and now my big problem is i cant get my keyboard working "" :(

it's a ps/2 keyboard, and my usb mouse works

some says i should use both ps/2 m&k or usb m&k,

and i tried use both ps/2 ... but both no luck ........

refer:: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...40&start=40

@insania

your QE/CI is now enabled ??

@muitommy

try to use usb m&K....so both usb!

i think only this will work....

because you dont have the option "USB legacy" in bios...

when i enable it i cant use my keyboard too....

but you dont have this option so try to use usb keyboard....and then maybe a ps2.kext hack to get it working ????

Thought id chime in and say how it going on my Rig.

Vital Statistics:

Mobo: Asus Striker Extreme 680i (1305 Bios)

Processor: QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700, 2666 MHz (10 x 267 = stock values)

Ram: 8GB of Corsair XMS2 CM2X2048-6400C5 (4x2GB sticks)

Memory Speed: DDR2-800mhz in Dual Channel mode

Mem Timings: 5-5-5-18 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 22-42-3-6-3-3 (RC-RFC-RRD-WR-WTR-RTP)

all motherboard settings are default except for turning off USB legacy support, and disabling the Silicon SATA II controller.

Dedicated Hard Drive: 80gb Maxtor IDE + Sony DVD/RW Drive IDE

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768mb

Display: DELL E248WFP 24" Widescreen LCD with a native res of 1920 x 1200

Followed all instructions in first post to the letter apart but ran into following issues. It installed fine but on reboot had to remove the NvidiaResman Kext. Reboot and setup timezone password etc worked fine after i used a USB to PS2 coneverter so I had both keyboard and mouse running on PS2 ports. (mac osx doesnt seem to like a usb mouse and ps2 ketboard attatched. you will find the mouse will work but keyboard wont. You dont have to reboot, u can use the mouse to setup the first phase of install and when it reboots plugin your mouse into the ps2 port instead. this will let you setup timezones and password and user info in the next stage of install)

I was now at the mac os desktop. Contined on, performed the update to 10.4.9, but got a kernal panic after reboot. Dropped it to command line and deleted NvidiaResman Kext again and was able to boot to desktop. this may not be the case for you, just see what kext is causing u troubles with -s and -v bootflags. Repeat until you get it to boot to desktop.

Proceeded to update Nvidia driver with the experimental one. Installed fine but got kernal panic. Dropped it to command line and deleted NvidiaResman Kext again and was able to boot to desktop. Im guessing this means i will have to resintall nvidia experimental, but system profiler reports my graphics card correctly.

Added Azalia for supremefx sound, but still no sound - still workin on that!

Havent updated the ATA driver yet. I want to solve all problems before creating new ones! :)

Slight Niggles:

1. It now seems to all work fine except I cant change the display resoloution. im stuck with 1024 x 768. Anyone know how to fix this?

2. Doesnt seem to recognise my ipod touch

3. Sony Microvault USB 512MB pen drive works but only if i plug it in before booting.

4. No sound with azalia yet.

5. Seems to only pickup the Q6700 processor as a core 2 duo but reports it has 4 processors!

Hope this helps someone.

4. No sound with azalia yet. - ok so i got this going now, its making all the right noises! I simply re-ran the installer and it rebooted fine instead of a kernal panic i had before.

Caca,

I am running leopard iAtkos 10.5.2 w/ 4 cores, Audio (stereo), USB, but I have not been able to load NVinject for my dual Evga 8600 GTS, I am stuck at 1024x768x32. Network does not run. SATA is not recognized. I will post my procedure this afternoon.

Ok this is what I did:

1) downloaded iATKOS v1.0i ISO, found in mininova.

2) downloaded the r2 patch, verify the checksum and patched the ISO

3) downloaded the r3 patch, verify the new checksum andt patched the ISO

4) burn the DVD.

5) connect an IDE disk as master, leave the DVD IDE as slave.

6) Reboot from the DVD w/ no flags, but to be safe I recommend use only -x

7) run when GUI appears run diskutility and format the whole disk as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

8) quit diskutility and continue install.

9) important: customize install check mark the following:

- iATKOS v1.0i Main System

- Bootloader --> Darwin EFI --> Darwin EFI bootloader

- Patches --> Kernels --> NForce NO-HPET SS3 Kernel

--> Remove CPUPowerManagement

--> Remove Thermal kexts

-Useful Tools --> Temperature Monitor

EVERYTHING ELSE UNCHECK!!!!!

10) continue installation and wait for reboot.

11) Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.1 starts w/ sound and welcomes you. 4 cores enabled.

12) Done!

13) Update Leopard to 10.5.2 (just to be up to date):

Copy matckernel and System.kext to desktop

13) Go back to windows and download KalywayUpdCombo10.5.2.pkg and 10.5.2 Full Graphics Update with Extras.mpkg

14) Reboot to Leopard

15) run Kalyway and do not reboot.

16) run the Full Graphics update (I am still testing this, so this step can be omitted)

17) replace the System.kext and the original Kernel, and reboot

18) Done!

19) optional onboard network does not work, so I purchased a Linksys compact wireless G and installed:

RTUSB D70-1.1.3.0 D71W-1.1.7.0 UI-1.3.0.0_2006_11_10.dmg

20) copy RT73USBWirelessDriver.kext into Extensions folder

21) is stable as long no time machine is used, and power management is disabled.
