Windows RG Posted October 10, 2007 Share Posted October 10, 2007 So ive been away from the forums lately... just sticking with 10.4.8. but now i hear 10.4.10 is great and i would like to upgrade. so my question is.. which one should i use? i seem to like XxX but Kallway seems good to. so i want your opinion. mzr9mm Posted October 11, 2007 Share Posted October 11, 2007 Hi, I downloaded the XxX version of OS x86, i burned the image to a DVD and when I boot from it it gives me some kind of reapiting error : " launchd: Server 288b in boottrap 1103 uid0: "/usr/sbin/nitifyd" [530]: exited abnormaly: segmentation fault " this is what it says. Someone please help me out here :-s I am running : MoBo: Asus K8N Proc : AMD Sempron 3000+ Video: Ati Radeon 9600 HDD: Maxtor 250 GB Pleeeeeease some one help meee !!! PS. Kukushkin Posted October 12, 2007 Share Posted October 12, 2007 If you'll apply all fixes to Kaly one incl. safari keychain problem, carbon library which i explored for now - it seems very fast and stable release. one more problem I discovered yesterday is that when applying a custom colour background to all finder content windows (in an icone mode) some of them could reset to a blue colour background.. I gave up trying to install the XxX version i got uphuck`s 10.4.9 v1.4i and installed it. instalation went great, i had some problems initiaally convrting the partition using disk utility but i managed to install it afterall. When the instalation finished after the reboot I got a debugger kernel <panic> message or something like that.and could not start the OS. Any thoughts on this ? my complete specs are : AMD Sempron 3000+ on MoBo ASUS K8N nForce 3 250, Ati Radeon 9550 AGP Video Card, MAXTOR 250 GB HDD SATA, RAM Kingston 512 DDR400, LG DVD writter. XxX doesnt support AMD cpus, neither uphuck 1.4i !!! ('i' stands for INTEL). Try 10.4.10 tubgirl relase, or Myzar's 10.4.9. mzr9mm Posted October 13, 2007 Share Posted October 13, 2007 I did it, i installed tubgirl`s 10.4.10 version and it went great, exept for the fact that everything froze when I got to registering the OS, I just restarted the PC and everything went fine. After the PC started OS X i realised that I had no sound, I could only see the desktop in 10x7 resolution, and after countless hours of trying I coulden`t get my internet connection to work, I have to Ethernet Cards: 1 - onboard (that doesen`t even work anymore) and 2 - on a PCI slot on the mobo. In network I could see 2 Onboard ethernet controlers but regardless of all the settings I tryed for each one I could not connect to the internet. I am a noob at this so please bare with me... How can I see the contents of another windows partition without eraseing it ? Pretty much these were the problems I encountered .. oh and the DVD player gave an error... now I`m back on XP untill I can find come solutions. Thanks for the help so far. frizbot Posted October 13, 2007 Share Posted October 13, 2007 Since speedstep had the RTC clock problem, where time went too slow when enabled, I thought a new kernel might help. Installed the KoolKal 10.4.10 update (with SSE2). It failed to install the ACPI drivers, so I did that manually. It failed to use GMA900 properly, as well as nVidia 6600 Go, so I get a broken system for now.
