darthmac
I have the same Realtek ALC268 on my Toshiba U300-NS1 laptop. I'm currently installing 10.4.10 on it and will keep you up to date on my findings. cagoenbillgates
no luck here, still trying UPDATE: i installed a couple of unrelated kexts of XXX DVD on top of my installation, but also ALC888 to test later (the simple one, not digital or 6 channel), restart I have audio through speaker and volume button... !!! i don't know which combination made this work, or if my editing of kexts has anything to do, but i'm going to save an image now of the HD and keep you updated. cagoenbillgates
I couldn't play with the laptop until today a few minutes. I have the AppleAzalia alone, without HDA or alcInject or AC97. I tried more versions and all worked, so i was that easy I guess. If you edit and put "10ec 0268" it work with integrated speakers perfectly, no hangs or cuts. Also the volume keys and controls work perfect. But for the moment no output or input other than internal speakers. it's weird. tomorrow i'm gonna have more time and can post the kext. I'm making no progress with hex editor and HDA or AC97 for the moment... So you just installed ALC888 from XxX DVD install and changed the value inside the AppleAzalia kext? That's it? Thanks! cagoenbillgates
the easiest way is to install AppleAzalia kext and if don't work update the plist with your model. No need for HDA o ALCInject or AC97 of course. But this only gives the speakers (no jacks), although perfect support. Fesob
the easiest way is to install AppleAzalia kext and if don't work update the plist with your model. No need for HDA o ALCInject or AC97 of course. But this only gives the speakers (no jacks), although perfect support. Wow! I really need to ask you about this! I'm having problems with ALC268 since AppleHDA Patcher v1.16 doesn't work. My hardware is this: Realtek High Definition Audio Properties: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0268&SUBSYS_1025012E&REV_1000\4&2CC90C85&0&0001 Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27D8&SUBSYS_012E1025&REV_02\3&B1BFB68&0&D8 I have a clean install of Uphuck 10.4.9i R3. I chose not to install AppleAzaliaAudio. So i have no sound, no Audio devices in system preferencies. When i install AppleAzaliaAudio, i have no sound, but in System Preferencies, there is a "HD Audio Output". So i edit the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext with: IOHDAudioCodecVendorID 0x10ec0268 in AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/Info.plist IOPCIPrimaryMatch 0x27d88086 in AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAzaliaController.kext/Contents/Info.plist then: sudo diskutil repairpermissions / sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleAzaliaAudio.kext sudo chmod -R 755 AppleAzaliaAudio.kext cd /System/Library sudo rm -rf Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache and reboot. The problem is that i'm not having sound after reboot. What i'm i doing wrong?! P.S.: Sound is the last problem with my new laptop; everything else is perfecly working, WEP encrypted Wi-Fi included!!! P.S.: I have made an image of OsX partition with Acronis TrueImage so i can do as many tries to make it work Thank you! cagoenbillgates
i didn't explain myself: if you have AppleAzalia only, without alcinject or applehda so nobody overtakes control of azalia(no need for appleAc97 also), then you have speakers sound. But only speakers sound, volume keys in my laptop, no sound cuts, but it's better than the "never-will-work" applehda (hope i'm worng but tried eeeeverything) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65670-realtek-alc268-not-work/#findComment-499387 Share on other sites

So i erease alcinject and applehda, then i reboot, try to search alcinject, applehda or appleac97 with Spotlight and they're all gone from my system but there is not sound Do i do the right thing or there is another way to erease those kext? Thank you so much for the support!!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65670-realtek-alc268-not-work/#findComment-499998 Share on other sites

The kext to edit is AppleAzalia only, you don't need to have alcinject or applehda in your system. AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/Info.plist is the one to edit with 0x10ec0268. comatron
modifying the appleazaliaaudio kext worked well. but isnt there a solution for input too? i tried the AppleHDA Patcher 1.20 which patches with full success from my linux dumpfile - but after rebooting - no sound. would be VERY nice to have sound in / or build in microphone ... cheers !! dunklerengel
Have you tried the taruga solution??? mine its working but doesnt have volume control Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65670-realtek-alc268-not-work/#findComment-561238 Share on other sites
toadspit
mine isn't (on Acer AS 5310). Taruga's drivers work on some of the ALC268, on others (like mine) work only on headphones, while internal speakers just crackle out some awful noise, and that's all. Let's test this driver and give feedback to Taruga!!!!
