-Cool dude Prav-
Hi all, I saw this good deal at a computer store near my place yesterday, and wanted to evaluate it and know whether I should go for it or not... It was an eMac 2006 with the following config (which I read off the CD/DVD-Drive's flip-open slot...) 1.4 GHz G4 Processor 1 GB RAM 160 GB Hard Drive CD-RW/DVD-RW drive And it was being sold for Canadian $500 which works out to about US$ 500.15 and about Euros 355 and about UK Pound 250 according to Google Calculator... Do you guys think its a good deal??? Also, Could you please suggest me a way to check the tech specs of that Mac by using some nifty tool or somthing? I am new to Macs, but am looking for something like CPU-Z/Everest which can give all the H/W information about a PC... Please help... Regards, Prav. hackintom
No, it's not a good deal, as it is DEFINITELY a weak and very old setup. Could be enough for Office 2004 and iTunes, but that's it... Keep your 355€ for something else, IMO Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64405-need-opinion-on-buying-a-second-hand-emac-2006/#findComment-456010 Share on other sites
anonymous86
What? I say it is. 355 gives you a fairly decent all in one System, and 1,42 Ghz was the Top of the line. If I were in the market for a cheap, good all in one System, I'd buy it right away. Also, check THIS link out to see just how cool an eMac is: http://www.lbodnar.dsl.pipex.com/eMac/eMac-upgrade.html The tool you're searching for is the System Profiler, which can be acessed buy clicking at the blue Apple at the upper left corner --> About this Mac --> More Info. Just keep in mind that the Video-Card probably won't do any Core Image Effects. A Nonny Moose
Go to Powermax.com and get an eMac for about $100 less. Purple Puppy
Buy it when the Canadian dollar isn't that strong. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64405-need-opinion-on-buying-a-second-hand-emac-2006/#findComment-456548 Share on other sites
