gonna put together a hackintosh ( a 2nd ) and i'm gonna go with a 945 chipset.....i've got all my parts eyed up 'cept for the dvd burner... the wiki doesn't seem to be updated..can anyone recommend a 100% compatible dvd burner.... my gut says pioneer cuz i think they are in regular macs, but i'd like to be sure .... thanks!

While pretty much any brand will work if you use PatchBurn, the BEST ones to get are some of the Pioneer DVR-111D series (or earlier models in the series), as they are exactly the same drives as are used in MacPros as Superdrives, and are therefore natively supported without any patches.

Hi BlueDragon:

I'm using a Benq DW1650 on my OSx86 Machine and I've never been able to burn DVD's under Mac OS X. I'm running Myzar 10.4.6 and PatchBurn software. I can burn CD-ROM's and read DVD's fine on Mac OS X.

Of course, I can read and write DVD's fine with Windows XP SP2 on the same machine.

Any suggestions?

I don't know what might be wrong there, as I used to have the same drive in an external case with my Mac mini, and it worked perfectly after using PatchBurn.
