  1. Running 10.5.1 stably I got greedy and decided to try an update. Ran Kalyway 10.5.3 + 9.3 modbin kernel and got a b0 error upon restart. Erased the HD to reinstall 10.5.1 .... and now my Hackintosh wont boot with any disc!It just freezes on the PCI listing screen, doesn't show any attempt to read the DVD. Gigabyte P35-DS3L GeForce 7900 GS OC 300GB SATA Drive Fujitsu DVDR Thanks in advance... I just cooked a generally reliable machine. EDIT: Nevermind, it dawned on me.The stupid HD needed to be formatted as MBR.This thread should probably be deleted.
  2. 7900 Video Card fan speed increases, gets louder

I haven't noticed as dramatic an increase in fan speed or noise with my BFG 7900 GS, perhaps it's there. Truth is, the fan runs loud in XP too, as far as I'm concerned. The added graphical demand may have something to do with it. My 12' powerbook is running hotter under retail Leopard, with the fans more likely to kick in. A bit of a disappointment, really. It runs snappier than tiger on both my hackintosh and powerbook
  3. LAN stops working after Windows boot

I'm encountering a strange problem with my Hackintosh. This is the first instance of it after almost 2 months of great uptime. My GA P35-DS3L Hackintosh running OS X 10.4.10 and Windows XP pro (on separate SATA HD's) will boot and run fine, however after booting into XP and subsequently booting back into OS X, ethernet has failed in OS X. I used the Realtek RL8xxx installer to get LAN working in the first place. Anyone else encounter/solve this? Thanks.
  4. How to squeeze Leopard to a SL-DVD

So version 2.3 has this preferences option, but you cant dig into the folders to remove specific packages.... I'm really confused how anyone has actually used this successfully yet. Unless I go back to my original theory that my initial DVD rip is bad.
  5. How to squeeze Leopard to a SL-DVD

Cant find that BOOT option anywhere in Carbon Copy.
  6. How to squeeze Leopard to a SL-DVD

It's a Toast rip from a retail DVD. I used carbon copy to strip out Xcode and printer and language packages. I'm beginning to think my rip must be bad. Attempting to burn a DL disc in Toast gives and 'ILLEGAL REQUEST' error. Irritating!
  7. How to squeeze Leopard to a SL-DVD

I did, both as a .dmg and a .sparseimage the powerbook refuses to recognize it as a startup disc, the macbook refuses to boot past the gray apple logo. My ripped original is good because it successfully produced a patched hackintosh install. I guess I should just get some dual-layer DVD's.
  8. How to squeeze Leopard to a SL-DVD

Locking the DMG did not help, this SL Leopard disc just goes by unnoticed during startup
  9. OSX86 10.5 Leo [ToH]-RC2 SSE3/SSE2 Intel Only

I dont want to stray off topic, but is anyone else getting brutally slow torrent speeds?
  10. Moment the torrent is done I'll give it a try. For some reason I'm getting really inconsistent speeds.
  11. It's not hard to circumvent the CRIA block on demonoid. Edited to add: fascist bastards!
  12. Using the BrazilMac patch on a ripped disc image?

Update: Pretty sure this doesn't work. I ran the patch on a .dmg version of my ripped retail copy. It produced an ISO file with nothing inside it. Oddly enough the resulting ISO came in around 4.38GB. I have no idea how a 7.6GB .dmg became a 4.38GB ISO. Should the contents of the ISO be a typical OS X install disc?
  13. I ripped a fullsize disc image file of the Leopard retail install DVD. Should I be able to patch that just like the downloaded osx-leopard105.dmg? do I need to rename it that specifically, or can I just change the patches file address? Will I have any problems installing from a dual-layer DVD?
  14. Any luck getting it to work to a TV either directly or using the component break-out cable?
  15. Connecting Hackintosh to TV

Interesting, my BFG Nvidia 7900 GS will display the boot screen, and the booting Apple logo, but when the resolution changes I lose the picture and nothing will detect the TV as a display again. Maybe though there's options yet.
