Has anyone gotten their cardbus or pcmcia card to work in either 10.4.9 or 10.4.10?

I've recompiled the IOPCCardFamily.kext driver to support my cardbus controller, but it won't load in 10.4.10, instant kernel panic after resources are allocated to it. I've tried recompiling PCIFamily.kext as well, but that didn't help much.

I tried using older kexts for 10.4.8 found here, but they didn't work either. The machine type changed from ADP to ACPI somewhere between 10.4.4 and 10.4.10, so I tried compensating for that, but no go.

The driver seems to go pretty far, at least with all PCI handling and stuff, so I am not sure where the crash is happening.

Has anyone gotten cardbus to work in 10.4.9 or 10.4.10? Does anyone want to help in making a driver for these versions? It'd be easier if Apple released the 10.4.10 sources, but I think if we get 10.4.9 to work, we can do 10.4.10.

I am attaching the newly built driver for 10.4.10. It doesn't work on my hardware, but maybe it'll work on yours.

Give it a try and report your results here. IOPCCardFamily.kext.zip

I added support for TI xx12. If you need support for another TI chipset, let me know the PCI info and I can add it to the driver.

BTW, the hardware I tested this on is a Toshiba M400.

Hello Siegfried,

This firewire PCMCIA card is killing me. Since you are a little more aware of whats going on - could you please look at the following post and let me know if the problem I am having is similar to yours ?

PCMCIA Card Problem

Thanks a lot for the help.

I've had problems trying to get my TI xx12 PCMCIA Card slot to work. I'll give this kernel extension a run and see what happens.

If so, I'll post the reply from my Tablet PC with the spare Airport card I have.

Any news? Did you successfully load IOPCCardFamily.kext kext file in OSX 10.4.9 or 10.4.10?

I think you have to re-install your system with 10.4.8. I don't think this will work in 10.4.10.
