UneeK
Like the topis says...Is there some command or piece of software that will tell me what hardware is detected by os x? I need it to see if my PCI slots on GA-965P-DS3 rev 3.3 mainboard are working coz I was trying to plug 3 different PCI cards (firewire and wireless cards) and none of them show up in system profiler. they are detected and listed by BIOS but once OS X boots I cant make any of them work Thank you

hecker
You can use the command kextstat to get a list of dynamically loaded kext extensions on your OSX machine. Cheers, hecker PS: Here's the online manual for kextstat: http://developer.apple.com/documentation/D...kextstat.8.html You can also call "man kextstat" (without quotation marks) in the terminal to display this commands manual page. UneeK
Thanks for the info but I still dont see how can I tell if my PCI card is detected at all by mac os I'm a noob I know, so please help me out here Let me try and make it a bit more simple. When you plug a piece of hardware that doesnt work out of the box (wireless card for ex) in PCI slot, will that PCI card be listed in the system profiler? Something like unknown but with device ID etc? Thanks again UneeK
Hakemon
Mine doesn't even list the cards that ARE working.
hecker
Yeah, sorry guys. kextload actually shows only the system's current loaded kext files (go figure) There is in fact no equivalent to lspci (the command used to probe pci units in linux) for OSX included by default. I did stumble across this, though: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36764 I will keep looking and write back if I find anything worth checking out. Cheers, hecker PS: Ok, I googled and found PCIProber, here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/3400

rgrodevant
Good info folks. One of my favorites (less detail, covers some basics) is "sudo dmesg |more" Not as verbose or as useful as something that offers detailed pci info, but that comes in handy.
