Sapam
If you are using ATA (IDE) HDD there should be no problem detecting your HDD during Install. Check if you HDD is on Master and Primary!!! Try posting the screenshot of your hdd from the following: 1) Windows "My Computer ->rightclick->Mange->->Disk Management And also what does the BIOS tell about your HDD. Sapam
Well, my knowledge about Vista is not that great ... kinda say "none " What I see in your "Disk Management" Screen Shot I kinda see 5 partitions: EISA (1.4GB) partition and 4 Primary Partition. It might be some Vista Stuffs. Though i have no knowledge of Vista and for some reason don't want to I think that there must be some connection to it (EISA). I may be wrong entirely... but was curious on seeing 5 partitions on your HDD. BTW try this out: http://coolblog.profit42.com/2006/12/09/vi...ot-on-intelamd/

borisbadenov
The problem is that you seem to have a newer dvd and the kext that you need to view your ide drive is not valid, yo uneed an older one.. So, you cane either find an older file (IOATAFamily.kext) from something like a 10.4.4 to 10.4.6 and make a new dvd OR just find an older version of osx like 10.4.4 to 10.4.6 and use that to boot into. JaS is always a good choice. I have found that the newer IOATAFamily.kext files (like 10.4.10 and Leo) will NOT find a lot of IDE drives and the kext must be replaced. Sapam
is your HardDisk SATA or IDE? If its SATA then you will have to follow the VMWare method of installing and you can try TubGirl 10.4.10 as it support SATA after install (mine is nForce chipset). chevy2410
Read something about a Dell 1420 and OS X not seeing the sata drive because there were more than 4 partitions. That could be your issue. What happens when you format the whole drive? After you boot the dvd does disk Util. see the drive? Can you format the drive with HSF+ Journaled? Make sure when in the partition tab that you the click the options button and choose "MASTER BOOT RECORD" Once the formatting is done continue with the install and OS X should now see the drive. This is a laptop, correct? In your BIOS you could try and set the hard drive sata option to read ATA instead. Being a laptop you might not have that option. Check anyway, though. I had a Toshiba N300 S1 with an SATA drive and Uphuck10.1.9 install dvd saw that drive. Chevy
