So, here's my conundrum. I bought a Dell because it was a cheap editing solution. ($620 for a Q6600 and 4 GB's of Ram) But I'm wishing I had considered an Apple, but there was just nothing comparable.

Anyways, to get to my point, I was just wondering if anyone has tried OS X86 on a Dell Dimension 9200. Here's the specs:

Processor Intel® Core™ 2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB)

Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic

2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs

Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard

Video Cards 128MB nVidia GeForce 8300 GS

Hard Drive 160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™

No Floppy Drive Included

Mouse Dell® 2-button USB mouse

No Modem

Pioneer SATA 18xDVD -/+ RW Dual Layer Drive

Sound Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

No speakers (Speakers are required to hear audio from your system)

Cool, thanks. I think I'm probably gonna go with a Radeon 1950 card. One other question, do you have any suggestions on install packs or patches and what not? I'm really new to this whole process, so help would be greatly appreciated.Conversely, if anyone has any suggestions about a better supported motherboard or something, I wouldn't be totally against hearing thoughts on parts suggestions that would be better supported. Vista is really making me angry right now, so I'm ready for a switch.

My GeForce 7600GT works fantastic. They're cheap too.

Even the eVGA 7300GT, 256 meg I have in my Dell works fantastic, I didn't even have to DL anything extra to get full QE/CI, I play Call of Duty 2 on it, and it works better in Mac than it does windows. (machine is dual boot) You can buy a 16x PCI express 7300GT for around $55.00 on the internet if you shop Newegg or pricewatch.com.
