egarim
Sorry for the stupid question but a dual core amd cpu has benefits on macosx 10.4 or it's the same ? Headrush69
Or the same as what? If you asking if the dual core X2 is faster than the single core on OS X, hell yes. olofd
Yes OS x will se two cores. And uses the coretechnologiy even better then Windows.. You should go with Intel core2duo though.. then you can easly overclock the cores to over 3.0ghz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61764-advantages-of-athlon-x2-on-macosx/#findComment-437821 Share on other sites
egarim
I'm suspicious that it works only with intel dual core like core2 duo not for amd... Has somebody tried with amd ? I had an Opteron dual core, and still have a X2 dual core. Both cores work perfectly, you shouldn't be afraid of AMD just because people think Intel is better. (There maybe be a fewer CPUID checks needed to be patched, but right now they both work just as fast.) Thank you for the reply, but you could activate/deactive and assign/drop core to process like in the real mac pro ? Regards Can't say i had the need to even look for that option as the system handles it fine. Are you sure that Mac Pro can do CPU affinity on dual cores and its not just doing it on dual CPUs? (If so it won't matter for X2) I have a dual CPU machine now and I don't see that option. (Could be OS X server only?) I know the CHUD tools included with Xcode have some features for disabling cores, caches, etc, but I have no experience with them and don't know the extent of features.
