ipguy
hi all anyone managed to install a copy of PS CS3 ? If so, which OSX installation are you running.... i think my "Jas.10.4.8 AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3" install is the issues here. no matter what i try (including the AppleSMBIOS.kext trick) the installer will not install PS i'm looking for someone that downloaded an OSX (at least v10.4.8), installed and then was able to install PS CS3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60862-photoshop-cs3-not-able-to-be-installed/ Share on other sites
diabz
i installed mine fine... JaS 10.4.8 -> 10.4.9 -> 10.4.10. which image are you using? there are a few floating around, not too sure on the details but i guess telling us the image and checksum should be a good start? also, does the Pentium D have SSE3? could that be the issue? diabz
they have a few solutions in the comments on that webpage. I'm assuming it's the same image as the one you have. the only other thing i can think of is that setup mightn't run on anything below 10.4.9? the image i'm using is "Adobe CS3 Design Premium.dmg". installation was fine but i had to use the fixed AppleSMBIOS.kext to get most of the apps to run. I'm surprised that nobody else is experiencing the same issue with PS CS3 as i am (or nobody else gives a stuff and is not answering) in any case, thanks for your help diabz, really appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60862-photoshop-cs3-not-able-to-be-installed/#findComment-432056 Share on other sites
gimpyviper
If it's crashing on the Initialization of the installer try this, as silly as it sounds... When you see the initialization window pop up with the progress bar, activate Expose (F10) to maintain focus on the initialization window. See if that helps. Provided the Init window is where you're crashing. bonestonne
if all else fails, you should try using Gimp over CS3. IMHO they're equally good products, i have more experience in Gimp because i tend to choose OS X and Linux over XP, but in school i do use CS2, one of my friends got CS3 with her macbook, so i've used that, but i think Gimp is still better. its worth a try.
