csturner
Stupid Question: Does Intel use the "D" in the processor to designate Dual-Cores? If not, what is the meaning of the "D"? Thanks. I.E. Intel Celeron 2.5 Northwood 2.5GHz Socket 478 Processor Model RK80532RC060128 - OEM - not dual core? Intel Celeron D 315 Prescott 2.26GHz Socket 478 Processor Model NE80546RE051256 - OEM - dual core? vbetts
Only the pentium d is dual core. Don't know why it's called the Celeron D though. Probably just a name. iDerf2006
Actually, even that second processor you cited is a single core. And yeah, I'm with you, the D in Celeron D completely confused me as well. *boink* Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60826-the-d-designate-in-intel-processors/#findComment-432391 Share on other sites

U.C.
I have the Celeron D 315 and nope its not Dual Core, probably just signifies an updated version. This version supports SSE3 and is based on the Prescott architecture Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60826-the-d-designate-in-intel-processors/#findComment-432464 Share on other sites
