ChickenFlu
hey... i've installed JaS 10.4.8 on top of XP and its working great..... Both are on my 1st hard drive....OS X is on the 1st 57GB partition and Windows is on the second partition (80gb drive) Now when i boot to XP using Darwin, i can see the Windows XP loading screen, and the windows logo, where it would normally say 'Loading your personal settings...' etc. But now i can see only the logo and it gets stuck there. (See Photo) Any ideas on how i can get into XP? Thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60551-xp-stuck-after-install/ Share on other sites
Xosx86
hey...i've installed JaS 10.4.8 on top of XP and its working great..... I put some xp install apps onto the xp partition and it would not boot! Found out that if I put the files in uses/myuser/desktop. It will boot! I think you may have to reinstall XP. Just go to the osx side, and drag any files you need to save to the osx desktop. (hope you made the xp fat32) Just make sure to put the files onto the xp desktop and not just drag them into the xp partition! hifidigital
I'm in the same boat... My drive was setup with my XP partition first, and OS X second. OS X is fine and boots consistently, however I get the same problem trying to boot up XP. ChickenFlu
i got it working! i just reinstalled XP on the same partition (fat) and it booted up fine, luckily i didn't have any data on the partition. After i got into XP, i booted into mac (i have GParted LiveCD with which u can choose which partition to boot) and it just said "HFS+ Partition Error". I then installed Acronis OS Selector thro XP and Mac works PERFECTLY through it and XP still boots fine Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60551-xp-stuck-after-install/#findComment-432279 Share on other sites

This is fixed since (from what I have read) Acronis will mark the partition you're booting to as active. My plan was to use the Window CD and diskpart to mark my windows parition as active, boot into that, install Acronis and see if I can't then boot either OS X or XP at will without the error. I'll report back. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60551-xp-stuck-after-install/#findComment-432371 Share on other sites
Dainix
How did you go about installing OSx86? If you had XP originally and resized the partition to fit the HFS+ partition, then you may have ran into the same issue I did when installing multiple operating systems. What happened to me was that a few files were on the end of my partition, and by shrinking it, I lost those files, and it ran into the same boot screen problem you did. So, I did it right next time and made sure all of my files were placed in the beginning of the partition, and then resized it. Defragmenting before resizing is always important.
