Numberzz
so i have installed leopard on my 17" mbp with a 2.4 ghz c2d and it is fast, except for the UI. on my 12" powerbook with a 1.5 ghz g4, the UI is MUCH faster. why would a GeForce FX Go5200 on a 1024X768 display be faster than a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT on a 1920x1200 display. i am mostly talking about dragging windows around. on the macbook pro it is slow and on the PB it is like it is on tiger. do u think this is because i put leopard on a 20 GB partition and the PB it takes up the whole 80 GB hard drive? turpentine
probably has a lot to do with hard drive space as you said. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60095-leopard-faster-on-a-ppc-than-intel/#findComment-427528 Share on other sites
sg
there are lots of reasons for why it might be "slower", all of them probably point to the fact that its not finished yet. Ritsuka
The driver for the 8600gt in the Leopard beta just sucks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60095-leopard-faster-on-a-ppc-than-intel/#findComment-427753 Share on other sites
macprodan
9A499 is SuperFast on my MBP. must be the Drivers for the new MBP`s GPU thats the Prob Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60095-leopard-faster-on-a-ppc-than-intel/#findComment-427833 Share on other sites
kevnaca
I also blame this on premature Nvida 8600gt drivers. They just came out so they need some time to be optimized. This also means the memory bandwidth required has increased by around 3 fold too. While the actual graphics chip has increased in performance by well over 3 times the memory bandwidth of the gfx chip has not increased by threefold = 'slower graphics'. thingi Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/60095-leopard-faster-on-a-ppc-than-intel/#findComment-427933 Share on other sites
