Vesken Rogue
Hey Taylor, What kind of laptop do you have? I'm looking for this exact same thing, 0x808624C5 kext driver for my Dell Inspiron 600m. I've been looking all over, and I have tried every combination of editing that file and loading the kext, except for the RIGHT combination. So far I havn't gotten it to work. Wondering if I should get into 10.4.4 instead, or would that be a bigger headache? I'll paste what I've run into more or less: i hope this isn't too long These are the errors I get after running the commands below on my Dell 600m with a Sigmatel ATCS AC97 aka C-Major Audio integrated sound card. "The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext“ was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update." "The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext“ was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update." Terminal input: vesken-rogues-computer:~ veskenrogue$ sudo -s Password: vesken-rogues-computer:~ root# cd /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext/Contents vesken-rogues-computer:/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext/Contents root# chmod 644 Info.plist vesken-rogues-computer:/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext/Contents root# nano Info.plist <Here I've edited the Info.plist with my 0x808624c5 under the NVIDIA AC97 section as directed in Wiki guide, as well as using a capitol C, making sure I always have full permissions..> vesken-rogues-computer:/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext/Contents root# cd ../../ vesken-rogues-computer:/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns root# chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions vesken-rogues-computer:/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns root# kextload AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext kextload: extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext is not authentic (check ownership and permissions) kextload: extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext is not authentic (check ownership and permissions) vesken-rogues-computer:/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns root# At this point I've run the disk permission repair utility, both now, and before starting the process. Then I ran rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions And I still get the exact same error, I reboot, same. vesken-rogues-computer:/System/Library/Extensions root# kextload AppleAC97Audio.kext 16IOAC97AudioCodec is not compatible with its superclass, 9IOService superclass changed? kextload: a link/load error occured for kernel extension AppleAC97Audio.kext load failed for extension AppleAC97Audio.kext (run kextload with -t for diagnostic output) vesken-rogues-computer:/System/Library/Extensions root# Macgirl's suggestion hasn't quite worked for me -------------------------------------------------------------------- macgirl! YOU ARE MY HERO! it works!!! I have a perfect system now! in case anyone need it, at terminal: sudo -s <type your password> cp -R <path>AppleAC97Audio.kext /System/Library/Extensions/ cd /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ kextload AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext (at this moment, I got sound working) rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions Reboot, sound works! ---------------------------------------------- So, any help would be greatly appreciated. ~Vesken. bptba93
i have the exact same thing i mean the code lol. you need to have a device id first then the vendor id i do know that....i have a toshiba satelllite a55-s106 you mean upgrade to 10.4.3? i've tried that and my computer said i don't need this update?? and i'm running 10.4.1 the one that says it's not authentic you need to go to that file in the finder then rightclick and select get info then change the owner to system and permissions to read only then click on detail and change i think it says something like owner group maybe it'll have your name in it scroll down to the very bottem and click wheel. then you should be able to load it Edited December 17, 2005 by Taylor Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5876-kext-file-for-sigmatel-c-major-audio/#findComment-37111 Share on other sites

perfect0
I too have a sigmatel c-major on my Inspiron 9200. There is sound output but it sounds like the subwoofer isn't working so it really sounds weak. Any suggestions? What is Macgirl's resolution? I'm quite wary especially after one of the posts here encountered problems with it.
