fonkyfresh
Wrong Section but whatever Are you sure you can't boot from cd? By holding the letter C on your keyboard or by holding the ALT key which will let you choose the boot disk/DVD you want. Is it a PowerPC Mini or the intel ? If you can not boot from the cd perhaps the DVD burner is dead that might explain why you can't boot ! Soündless
if you have an intel one, the only option for you if you can't get the install cds is to install 10.5 beta Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57212-mac-mini/#findComment-409173 Share on other sites
Paranoid Marvin
Looks like you might need to 'aquire' the universal install DVD off the internet somehow... If the CD isn't booting, it's likely that it is a PowerPC version for an Intel Mac. doggyworld
It took me a while to figure out how to boot from CD, but after I held down the ALT button, I was able to select the boot disk. If you're planning on installing Tiger 10.4, then I'd make sure you have at least 512mb of ram. After reinstalling the OS on mine, I found even with 512mb of ram it was running fairly low on memory after having both Safari and iTunes up. I'd hate to see what it's like with 256mb. I just finished upgrading my Mini to 2gb and it runs great now! I also got my Mac Mini used about 2 weeks ago for about $300 with all the retail accessories, manuals, cd's, and box: Core Duo 1.66 Ghz 512mb ram 60gb hard drive DVD/CDRW I have to say upgrading the memory was a PITA and the hardest memory upgrade I've ever done! Well worth it even though I scratched the bottom and back a little bit. Bunta
The mac mini was the first every Mac I got. It was G4 baby (the last model before the transition to Intel) and it ran like the queen of teh trot! Due to certain circumstances (i.e. Seing a shiny black macbook in the shop window *cough*) it had to go. But nevertheless, it sure as hell handled everything I threw at it. A good machine, by a good company, 'nuff said. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57212-mac-mini/#findComment-410758 Share on other sites
