Guest Ramm
Heh, it's JaS Well, the newest ones out now are the uphuck ones (1.2, 1.3, and soon-to-be 1.4). However, those ones are the best if you have AMD. I would recommend JaS 1048 + the 1049 update for Intel. All seems to be working well, but in the interest of having the most stable system possible, is there some advantage to JaS over uphuck for Intel processors? You mention the 1049 update...is it not good to update to 10.4.10? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Guest Ramm
From what I've heard, the uphuck released are just better for AMD. They probably aren't as stable as the JaS ones on Intel. firefoxsilver9
i'm pretty happy with Uphuck's 10.4.9 . Installed flawlessly on first attempt. I'm using the Intel SSE3 kernel. Vanishing ice
I tried to install uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3 on my C2D and AMD system for something like 10 times with different bios settings without success. Installation went perfectly well. But the computers never boot after the bios sequence. Anyone knows the reason. Bear in mind that I am not any kind of expert. Vanishing ice
For the C2D, it says that it could not find the boot up disk, as request to insert the boot up disk and press any key. For the AMD X2 system, only a dash appears after the bios start up sequence. I tried changing the the SATA on C2D system (Biostar TForce 965PT + E6600) to IDE mode after installation, but no luck. Jas 10.4.8 works well, but my highpoint raid card appeared not stable. So, I wanna move to 10.4.9. Now I am going nowhere with my system. For the AMD (Asus M2N-E + AMD 4800+ x2 CPU), I haven't got any clue at all. I only know that it used to work with Jas 10.4.8 on IDE harddisk. krassi Vassev
People used to do a very common mistake, so do I. They chose to install kernel sse3 and kernel sse3Universal. You have to chose and install only one kernell from installation DVD. Than everything should be fine. Vanishing ice
But I am pretty sure that I installed only one kernel, as I installed like 10 times now. The interesting thing is that the installation process went just perfect until the final reboot. So, it doesn't seem that the install DVD is faulty. So, I really don't have a clue now.
